LAX Board Meeting minutes February 11, 2008 Ellen Hofmann’s residence

In Attendance: G. Harvey, G. Osborn, R. Strickland, K. Malone, B. Laudig & Heather Martin (Trainer), D. Landeen, Kristin Lewis (Grant’s mom)

Practice starts Monday the 25th two weeks from yesterday. Get all materials filed with school this week: physical, participation agreement, athletic fee. If the forms and fee were paid for another sport, they don’t need to be submitted again.

To team: $200 uniform deposit, team insurance info & release, signed parent code of conduct, signed player code of conduct, copy of the athletic physical. Scholarship up to 50% of registration fee must be applied for in writing by the start of practice.

1st game March 12 requires 10 practices. See about scheduling Saturday practices? Note that times of weekday practices change through the season. 1st week is 5:30, Month of March is at 7, then back to 5:30

Bobby Laudig reported on the coaches meeting 2 weekends ago. Proof of insurance due 1st day of practice, league dues $10 per player March 10 along with complete team roster to WHSBLA & Sportability. Officials have been getting much more training & should be higher quality. They have connected with a PR group to get more info into the local papers.

Eric Weitz got in touch and is interested in an assistant coaching. He is a 2-time all American who played for UW. He is to be interviewed tomorrow. He is working as an EMT firefighter and lives nears Hale, so he could come in handy.

Commonwealth Lacrosse (Doug Knight) sells Brine gear & is selling a full package & helmet with NH colors (except for cleats) for $200, a great deal. He can also get warm-ups for $41 per set. 5 players are interested in the package so far but there is a minimum to qualify for the discount.

Paperwork can be submitted to NH office “for the lacrosse club.”

Bainbridge preseason tournament is not being held. Lynden (March 8-9) is asking whether we want to participate. Wenatchee valley shootout March 22-23 $275 per team for 2 days (5 games), $175 for 1 day (2 games). Lynden is favored because it is closer & earlier for team bonding. Biggest issue for Lynden is getting accommodations. One parent needs to be the organizer & collect the money; Glen Osborn volunteered (Kelly Malone will be out of town). Heather knows a travel agent & will check on rooms tomorrow. Doubletree would be about $59 per night for 2 queens corporate rate. Need about 15 players, especially new players. Need to have a plan for Saturday night to keep them together. We wil tell them to pencil us in, we are polling the parents.

We have field reservations assured, Ellen will send payment. Glenn will check on field equipment. Glenn Harvey & Yale Lewis will help as scorekeepers.

Next scheduled meeting is Wednesday March 5 (when practice is 7-9). Move it to Sunday March 2 1 PM at Glenn Harvey’s house 8912 46th Ave NE. Possible pizza scrimmage March 1.
