Nathan Hale LaCrosse Board meeting – June 6th, 2007 – Ellen Hofman’s residence
In attendance: D. Landeen (Root), R. Strickland, K.Malone, G.Osborne, E.Hofman, K.Allen (Arndt)
Year-end BBQ was most successful. R.Strickland’s video of the team was wonderfully executed and well received. R.Strickland’s draft #2 of the video was reviewed and enjoyed by the board.
Budget- The end of the year ends with positive fiscal balance. Discussion followed with suggestions of possible needs of team. #1 – Larger scoreboard numbers to be seen across the field during games. #2 Purchase of first aid kit. #3 Purchase of Radar gun to check speed of balls thrown.
Fundraising- Car wash -targeted for Saturday, September 22nd. Advanced ticket sales were successful last year. Possibility of other fundraisers discussed including concession stand sales, LaCrosse clothing sales, charging admission to games and/or playoff games.
Learnings from this year- #1 Fan Separation is important. Marla Malone will make signs to post next year for Home and Guest sections. #2 On-line registration to be implemented- will set up rosters, transportation lists. Payment will be required at time of registration- if you don’t register- you will not be allowed to play. The on-line server will be chosen at the September meeting. #3 Players from outside schools have difficulty w/misplaced paperwork by Nathan Hale office. #4 Deposit for uniforms worked well. Some shorts are worn and need to be replaced as well as a few extra jerseys to be purchased to hold in reserve. Costs to be incurred by the team funds. #5 Field lights can be turned on at the field- Coach Laudig has keys. #6 Bus driver – can be hired independently for transportation to far away games. #7 Coach from the U. of Oregon is running a clinic at Nathan Hale before the LaCrosse season. #8 Defined needs of time commitment to encourage parent involvement from the greater group of LaCrosse parents. #9 Encourage continuation of winter conditioning- Cole Kerkhoff may be invited to run the winter conditioning by Coach Laudig. #10 WA. LaCrosse Boys League meeting is this Saturday. Each Team must have a representative or the voting rights of the team will be lost. Coach Laudig is planning on attending.
Camp Information- (included in the 06/06/07 meeting agenda) reviewed. Summer leagues develop a LaCrosse fraternity and creates a social environment.
Plans for the 2008 Season- The season starts March 1st. discussion followed regarding holding a pre-season tournament. Information available on WaLaX – may help set up the tournament. Need to identify someone who will run the tournament: locate referees, field availability, contact other teams.
Need for Booster Club Representative – Kerri Adams has expressed interest in becoming LaCrosse Representative for the Booster Club, which meets the first Monday of every month.
Recruitment- Coach Laudig is developing connections with Ingraham. Ian Harvey wrote an article about LaCrosse for the U. Prep newspaper. The board identified a need to step up recruitment this next season. Discussion regarding the possibility of having a scrimmage game during the football half time game.
