LAX Meeting minutes – May 2, 2007 – Kelly Malone’s Residence

In Attendance: G. Osborne, R. Strickland, K. Malone, G. Harvey, D. Landeen (Root) , K. Allen (Arndt) , E. Hofman (Harkey) 

 

Reviewed Season Highlights – Strong leadership,larger quantity of spectators, better teamwork, more shots by different players

 

Budget- Review by board of current financial status shows deficit of $600.00. Discussion followed encompassing urgent need to raise funds. K. Malone will generate a letter to parents requesting a donation of $25.00 to $50.00 per family in order to meet this year’s financial obligations. This letter to be handed out at the next LAX game.

The board approved a measure to adopt a scholarship policy, to be in affect next year. Scholarships will be limited to a maximum of 50% of the fees. Application for scholarships must be made in writing to the board for consideration.

 

End of the Season

Playoffs start May 12th, Saturday. Nathan Hale is currently #1 in the Evergreen division. Nathan  Hale will play the wild card team in the Skagit division at Summit (our home field). K. Kerkoff will check on field availability and times.

Wednesday, May16th- semifinals. Saturday, May 19th-Finals at Memorial Stadium.

 

Senior Recognition

 K. Malone will speak with Bobby about Senior Recognition. There are three seniors this year at Nathan Hale. There are no more home games in the regular season- may incorporate recognition into the end of the year celebration and/or Seniors may wear armbands during a playoff game.

 

End of the year party- K. Kerkoff has suggested to K. Malone the same location at Haller lake as last year.

 

Varsity Letters

 Roni Littlefield from Nathan Hale has requested a main roster for the LAX players who qualify for varsity letters and how many years they have lettered. The list needs to be submitted before the spring sports banquet on May 23. The board entertained a motion to require payment of fees before being awarded a Varsity letter. No decision was made on the motion.

 

Booster Club Representative

Currently K. Larson has been attending the Sports Booster meetings as a representative for wrestling and for LAX. The Booster Club requires each sport to be represented by a different person (the meeting is once a month). Ideally this person should be a parent of a freshman or sophomore. G. Osborne will contact –Spencer Adam’s father- Dos Adams to inquire about his interest in being the representative.

 

Plans for next year

Recruitment- D. Landeen and T. Osborne attended the NH night May 1st, and put up a LAX table with information. There was some interest, but no names to follow up with. Kelly is posting signs at Ingraham and G. Harvey is talking with the athletic director at U. Prep.

 

On-line Registration- K. Malone presented option of on-line registration through an independent company that takes credit cards. They charge a fee of $4.00 per player.

 

Pre-season tournament- Kelly introduced an idea for a preseason tournament hosted by NH possibly including both a girl’s division and a boy’s division.

 

Next meeting – Wednesday, June 6th at E. Hofman’s residence at 7 p.m.
