One of the most accomplished athletes in all of professional wrestling, Dan Severn chats with Nate Stein for one of his most interesting interviews to date.

-----

NATE STEIN: What drew you first into freestyle and greco-roman wrestling?

DAN SEVERN: It was the next step after having success in High School.

-----

STEIN: Did you ever try to compete for the Olypmics?

SEVERN: 5 times

-----

STEIN: How did the opportunity to wrestle for the UFC come about?

SEVERN: A fluke, a buddy of mine told me about it.

-----

STEIN: How did you find your way into pro wrestling?

SEVERN: A friend of mine was the president of the Michigan wrestling club and I was the coach. After all amatuer wrestling business was done, I would ask him about the pro stuff.

-----

STEIN: Was it a difficult transition from amateur wrestling and MMA/NHB competitions when you ventured into pro wrestling?

SEVERN: It still is because I still do both.

-----

STEIN: What do you think your most memorable moment in the WWF was?

SEVERN: I can't think of any off hand.

-----

STEIN: Congratulations on once again becomming the NWA World Heavyweight Champion. What has your experience been like with the NWA?

SEVERN: It was my first title belt of any kind so I am grateful for that. I beleave I have helped the NWA a great deal but it has changed and I'm not too sure about the current status.

-----

STEIN: I see from your site that you completed your 4000th match in 1999. What do you think drives you to be the competitor you are?

SEVERN: I'm not sure, all I know is that I like competition.

-----

STEIN: You run Dan Severn's Michigan Sports Camps in Michigan. What do you think makes a good wrestler or MMA competitor?

SEVERN: A combination of positive mental outlook and physical ability.

-----

STEIN: When someone comes to you to train for freestyle wrestling, MMA, or pro wrestling, what do you look for in that person?

SEVERN: Same as above answer. [A combination of positive mental outlook and physical ability.]

-----

STEIN: For someone looking at getting into pro wrestling, what would you say to them?

SEVERN: Don't quit your day job anytime soon.

-----

STEIN: Along with Becky Levi, you run The Danger Zone Mixed Martial Arts Production. Why do you think The Danger Zone stands out?

SEVERN: Because of the people who run it.

-----

STEIN: What do you think of the state of pro wrestling today?

SEVERN: I wish there were more stronger companies.

-----

STEIN: If there was one thing you could change in pro wrestling, what would it be?

SEVERN: Create a couple more that would give the WWF a run for their money.

-----

STEIN: If you could ask anyone in any genre of wrestling a question, who and what would it be?

SEVERN: I don't have an answer at this time.

-----

STEIN: Anything else you'd like to add?

SEVERN: Thanks
