Suge Knight and his record label, Tha Row, have wrapped production on their first release of the year, and on March 25 theyll extend an official invitation to the public to attend their gangsta party.

Knight will release the soundtrack to comedian Eddie Griffins upcoming biopic, "Dysfunktional Family." And even though Jay-Z, Ashanti and Juvenile have all contributed tracks, the majority of the album is comprised of new music from Knights own musical clan.

An Indian composer has won a court injunction halting the sale of Dr. Dre protg Truth Hurts' debut album and single based on claims that the hit song, "Addictive," sampled one of his compositions without credit.

A federal judge in Los Angeles ruled on Monday that "Addictive" must be removed from shelves unless composer Bappi Lahiri's name is added to the credits, according to Lahiri's attorney, Geoffrey Spellberg.

Likening the unauthorized sampling of the song to "cultural imperialism," Lahiri filed suit against Dre, his Aftermath Records label, and parent company Interscope/Universal Music Group, citing uncredited use of the Hindi song "Thoda Resham Lagta Hai," composed by Lahiri for the 1987 Indian film "Jhoothi."

Thats all for this time.

1-26-03 I don't have a certain story, but I have assorted music news.

I'd like to start off by saying Common will be releasing his second single with Jill Scott called "I am Music". I'm not certain when the single will debut.

Snoop is also preparing for his second single "Beautiful". Which will feature Pharrell Williams of the Neptunes. The video is being shot in Rio.

Bone Thug Member Bizzy Bone has signed with Bungalo Records, a division of Universal Records. Other notable rappers on that label are DJ Quik and Mack 10. Bizzys album either called the Testiment or 7-sign will be released in the spring.

Speaking of Bone their single "Home" should be hitting the tv in the next couple of weeks. Thats all for this time.

1-17-03 Outkast's latest protg, Killer Mike, explained the hip-hop duo's upcoming project best. "It's like two-for-one lap dance day at your local gentleman's club," the titanic rapper said backstage at Monday's American Music Awards.

Due in late May, Speakerbox/Love Hater is a double album with disc one being a solo release from Big Boi and disc two a solo effort from Andre 3000.

"We both produce and we both do every little part of the music, so when you at home in your own kitchen or at Stankonia [studio], you're working at different vibes," Big Boi explained of the project, which he emphasized "has never been done before." "From a production standpoint, you get more done in a shorter amount of time."

Both discs will be treated like solo releases with separate singles and videos dropping simultaneously. Big Boi's first single is called "Church," while Dre's will be "Prototype."

The rappers will appear on each other's albums, along with a carnival of collaborators, including Jay-Z and Killer Mike on Big Boi's "Flip Flop Rock."

"It's just like any other Outkast album we use extra spices and preservatives where we need them," Big Boi said. "The Dungeon Family is there, we also got Jay-Z, Bubba Sparxxx, Killer Mike, Bun B. from U.G.K."

12-24-02 Rap music mogul Marion "Suge" Knight was arrested yesterday (Dec. 23) for allegedly violating the terms of his parole, Los Angeles sheriff's officials said. The alleged parole violations involve his alleged association with reputed gang members, police said. Authorities learned of the possible violations after raiding the rap mogul's office and home last month.

Knight was arrested after meeting with his parole officer.

Knight's attorney said his client has done nothing wrong, adding that if he did come into contact with any gang members it would only have been in connection with his responsibilities as a record company executive. "He hasn't done anything but try to obey the law and work hard since his release," attorney David Chesnoff said. "I'm hopeful that when this is all thoroughly analyzed that he'll be permitted to be released."

Sheriff's investigators raided Knight's Malibu home and the Beverly Hills office of his Tha Row records Nov. 14 in connection with a pair of unsolved homicides. Authorities have said Knight is not a suspect in the killings.

In August 2001, Knight was released on parole after serving five years for violating probation on assault charges by getting into a fight in a Las Vegas hotel. The 1996 altercation occurred hours before rapper Tupac Shakur was killed in a drive-by shooting while riding in Knight's car.
