There are small South Asian minorities in most of the countries I visited. Generally two things are true about South Asians in Africa: most of them are shopkeepers, businessmen, or merchants, and most of them are mistrusted by Africans. This hostility breeds a strength of community you don't see in India: hence, Lusaka's main mosque is right next to its main Hindu temple. Common enemies bring people together.
