Competition Details-

After due consultation and feedback the following is the format we will be using for Flames of War at next year's Natcon (NZ National Wargaming Convention) in North Shore.  All oversea's pretenders are welcome to come and take the NZ title home with them if you think you are up to the challenge.

15mm WW2 Flames of War Competition

Rules:  Flames of War as published October 2002, plus any supplements that may be published by Battlefront Miniatures before 1 April 2003.

Forces:  1500 points Mid War Forces as stipulated in the main Flames of War rulebook or any Battlefront Miniatures published supplement prior to 1 April 2003.  No non Battlefront Miniatures published variations on troop ratings or equipment will be accepted.  All lists will be checked prior to the competition and should accompany your registration.  No lists will be accepted after Monday 14 April 2003.

Format:  Eight 2.5hr scenario rounds (first round will be a max of three hours to facilitate setting up terrain, terrain then remains set for the remainder of the competition) with three rounds on the Friday and Saturday, and two on Sunday.  Swiss Chess format applies.  Swiss chess ranking will be taken from Generalship scores.  Game results will be decided as per the rules, i.e. 6-1, 5-2, 4-3, etc.
Title: The National title will be decided on a combined score of your Generalship (Max 48pts), Sportsmanship (Max 40pts), Army Painting and Presentation (Max 20pts), and Army Composition (Max 12pts).
Prizes will be available for first and second place, Best Sport and Best Painted/Presented Army.
Best Painted/Presented Army:  Will be judged by a panel of three working in four categories, (1) overall look and feel, (2) painting ability (shading, etc), (3) level of painting detail, i.e. rank, Waffenfarbe, etc, (4) wizzy bits, conversions/diorama's, etc.
Army Composition:  Will be judged in four categories, (1) list is right!! first time, (2) historically accurate, (3) has style and flair, (4) doesn't smell of cheese.....
Expectation of Players:  You are all expected to bring your own dice, rules, rulers, terrain and base cloths.  For anyone wanting to play and unable to comply with these requirements drop me a line and we will see what we can do.  First in first serve and no promises.
Umpire Note:  If there is an odd number of competitors I will play to prevent a bye round on the basis I am not eligible for any titles and my opponents have to understand that we are probably going to get interrupted with questions.

See you all there, Rex.
