Resignation
by Francesca Thrash
July 18, 2000

Drums sound as from distant hills,
All about me seems to throb,
Each and every heartbeat felt,
Consumes me while I sob.

Denial's battle has ceased its war,
Resignation has won the fight.
I've watched my soul accept your death,
Like a shadow accepting light.

Flitting shadows vanish now,
As light destroys it's host.
Those whom we invite within,
Tend to hurt us most.
