Rome - a city with more than 2000 years of history, an immortal city with the biggest cultural heritage in the world. The first place that we visited in Rome was the Fontana de Trevi - one of the most famous fountains. The legend says that if you throw a coin you will come back to Rome, if you throw a second one you can desire a second wish. Well, it's you choise believe this legend or not. The Fontana is a work of N. Salvi and it was finished in 1762.  In the center there is a powerful figure of Neptune surrounded by the Health and Abundance Niche.
Rome, Italy
It began to rain and everybody began to run to the bus, only i wanted to take some pictures and i paid for this - first i got wet and second my web camera got wet and stopped working. I was not mad about getting wet but i was very upset about the camera.
The next day it began to work (only for a few minutes) and i could shot some pictures in Vatican - the home of Catholic Church. Vatican is an independent state since 1929 (it occupies only 108 acres).  The pope exercises the legislative, judicial and executive powers of this theocracy. On the pic on you left you can see St. Peter's Square in Vatican.
Here you can see the Basilica of Saint Peter - the biggest church in the world.  The best artists of Renaissance took part in its construction: Michelangelo, Raphael and Bernini. The original artist was Bramante. The construction lasted more than 150 years.
We took a tour inside the Basilica and saw the incredible dome (a work of Michelangelo). It's extremelly beautiful both outside and inside.
At this stage my digital camera stops working and there are no more pictures that i can share with you (unfortunatly) but i hope you have enjoyed those that you have seen.  We visited Naples after Rome. As i found out later pizza is a speciality born there but i have to say that pizza here in Greece is much more delicious than in Naples.

Well, at the end i would like to add that there are so many places that you can visit in Rome and generally in Italy.  There are thousands of temples, churches, fountains (there are more than 300 fountains only in Rome), squares and museums.  Almost every building and corner in Rome, Florence and Venice is a "museum". It's a very beautiful country, "bella Italia" like Italians say.  I hope you enjoyed  visiting Italy through this web-page and if you did, leave me a message in the guestbook. Ciao!
