| MY TEACHING EXPERIENCE good or bad? |
||||||||||||||||||
| Well, where should I start? It all started out pretty bad. Actually, It was horrible for about 1 month. I would love to bore you with all the details on how horrible it was but that was on my old page and i am trying to be more positive and not scare the hell out of you, if you are thinking about going there. I'll just be brief it. |

| Noone showed up at the airport to pick me up and my largest luggage was missing. Somehow, I knew that this was going to happen so I packed a lot on my carry-ons. | ||||||||||||||||||
| When i did eventually arrive at the hogwon i was put to work immidiatly. JUST what you want after not showering for 20 hours right? After my shift i was suppose to be taken to my house but yet again that wasnt prepared for me either. | ||||||||||||||||||
| No GAMES allowed. Prior to going to South Korea you are told what the curriculum will consist of and what you are to teach and how. Well, I was at the HOGWON of HELL and there were no games allowed and the Director would not explain what she wanted, nothing would satisfy her. She got rid of me and the two other Canadians within a month after our arrival. | ||||||||||||||||||
| The "BASH MEETING". I was told that the two korean teachers and the director were going to have a meeing with me to help me teach what they were teaching the kids in korean. Well, that didnt happen 4 people sat on one side of the room while i sat on the other and they just threw swords at me. It was the most horrible and humiliating experience ever. A few days later i told the director that it didnt seem like it was going to work out. | ||||||||||||||||||
| Enough with the negativity, Korea wasn't all bad. After my month of hell with my crazy director I found a new job at Hyandai Foreign Language School. I took a pay drop but it was well worth it. I had a hard time with this director too but it wasn't anything that i couldn't deal with. I had a pretty nice apartment and a great job working at Samsung, LG Phillips and LG Innotek. I taught mostly adults, and a few children. Teaching was a great job experience and taught me a lot about me. The individual accomplishments that my students achieved made my job experience very rewarding. | ||||||||||||||||||
