"Yurushi"

To put it bluntly, she looked terrible. The lively and cheerful Satsuki Date was replaced with a tired looking woman with rings under her dark eyes and her long black hair tied in a bun. She hadn't opened the door all the way, only ajar so her face was visible. Her eyes were narrowed as she saw who was standing outside.

"What do you want?" she asked hoarsely. "Are you here to mock me? Are you here to tell me what a disgrace I am?"

"You know I don't do that," Seiji Date replied sternly. "Satsuki... I've come to apologize."

"Apologize?" She gripped the side of the door until her knuckles turned white. "How dare you come here and tell me that you're gonna apologize after all the pain you've put me through, Seiji!"

Seiji flinched inward. She no longer called him "Big Brother" but "Seiji." She was so formal with him; it was as if she were speaking to a complete stranger rather than her own brother. Seiji felt his heart tear in half as he watched the tears roll down his little sister's face.

"Seiji, she murmured, you have no idea how much I hate you right now."

He wanted nothing more than to put his arms around Satsuki and tell her that she's wrong, that he still loved her and that he was so sorry for ever doubting her. But something was holding him back...

The front door swung open and Seiji and Touma watched as their former nemesis, Anubis, came into view. He wore a dark expression and his dark blue eyes seethed. Placing his hands on top of Satsuki's shoulders, he nodded at the two Samurai Troopers.

"Leave now," Anubis warned. His gaze never left them as he pulled a now sobbing Satsuki into his arms, comforting her silently.

"I won't!" Seiji objected with his fists clenched at his side. "Yami Masho..."

This was definitely not good, Touma noted to himself. Seiji was really, truly angry. He was calling Anubis by his former title from when they were enemies.

"It's all your fault," Seiji hissed suddenly. "It's because of you my sister is living like this. You forced yourself upon her and look what happened! She had to drop out of school because she was pregnant with YOUR child! You shorten her childhood and her dreams and I will never forgive you for what you've done!"

Touma drew a step back and held his hands up in time to catch Seiji as he flew back. Seiji bumped into Touma but collected himself with wide, violet eyes. He felt a stinging sensation on his right cheek from where Satsuki had slapped him.

Seiji was beside himself. He couldn't believe it... His baby sister, little Satsuki, struck him! What hurt even worse, what hurt more than any physical pain, was having her defend Anubis. She was defending him, the one man who shortened her childhood, the one man who literally seduced her to the dark side (in Seiji's opinion).

"S-Satsuki," Touma stammered, unsure of what to do. He was shocked as much as Seiji by her reaction.

"Leave me alone," Satsuki demanded as she drew her trembling hand back. "Get out of here right now before I call the police. I swear to God, Seiji Date, I don't ever want to see you again!"

Behind Anubis and Satsuki arose the wailing cries of a baby. Seiji bit his lower lip as he heard the sounds. Satsuki's child... His nephew... He hadn't seen him and there was no doubt that the rest of his family had wanted to see him either. He couldn't take much more of the torment. He wanted to do something to make up for what he had done... But could words alone be enough?

Touma's gaze shifted over to Anubis, whose attention was drawn inside. Satsuki slipped away from the doorway and vanished into the apartment to tend to the crying baby.

"Despite what you think, Korin," said Anubisu as he stood in front of the doorway with his arms across his chest, "I'm going to take care of Satsuki and our child. I also plan on asking her to marry me."

"Damn you," Seiji cursed, his eyes dark with rage. "You're only doing this because you actually feel pity towards her. If you ever think about hurting her..."

"Korin." Anubisu turned around and grabbed the doorknob. "You talk too much."

The front door slammed shut, leaving Seiji and Touma out in the cold. A few sprinkles of rain fell from the gray skies. A rumble of thunder echoed across the atmosphere.

Touma brushed the long lock of hair up from his face, only to have it fall down beside his nose once more. He put a hand on Seiji's wrist and tugged it gently.

"Seiji," he began but his voice soon trailed off. He was at a loss for words. He felt so horrible; he wanted to do something, ANYTHING to help but unfortunately there wasn't much he could do.

Shifting about, Touma made his way in front of Seiji and gasped. Tears streamed down the blonde's face.

Touma whispered, "Oh... Seiji..."

More rain fell from the gloomy skies. They could hear the pitter-patter of rain upon the rooftops and windows. Inside the apartment, Satsuki's voice was heard as she tried to calm her little baby down. Anubis' voice was heard as well but it was rather low muffled.

"Tell me something.

Seijis monotone voice caused the blue haired boy to gaze at him.

Touma. What's the point of all of this?" The blonde lifted his head and hadn't bothered to wipe the tears away. "What's the point of fighting for what you believe in, when the ones who believe in you hate you?"

"Touma wrapped his arms around his friend and embraced him tightly. "Seiji, just don't give up," he soothed as he felt him bury his face into his shoulder.

Seiji tried to fighting back more tears as his body wracked with sobs. It wasn't fair. It wasn't fair! Why was this happening? Hadn't he done enough for this world? Why had destiny decided to pull such a cruel, unfathomable trick on him?

Wordlessly Seiji allowed himself to be led away from the apartment complex. He could feel Touma supporting him around the waist and shoulder but everything else felt so cold. He felt a throbbing headache as well as a sore throat. Was it the weather that was doing this to him? No, it was his heart, the anguish he felt. Over and over again he could see the images flash before him. They were images of himself and Satsuki when they were younger.

***

Five-year old Satsuki sniffled as she held her knee to her chest. "Big Brother! I hurt my knee!"

Seven-year old Seiji, dressed in a kimono, scowled in response. He rushed over to her side and kneeled before her.

"I told you not to play around there!" he admonished softly. Seeing the hurt expression on his little sister's face, he reached up to his head and removed the bandanna he wore. Untying it, he took Satsuki's knee gently and used the bandanna as a makeshift bandage to cover her knee. "Here... This ought to do the trick."

Satsuki sniffled and smiled at him. "Thank you so much, Big Brother! You're the best!"

***

Seiji stood in the middle of the dojo with his wooden sword in hand. Standing across from him was his opponent, the sophisticated and crafty Shingo. All eyes were upon him and he could feel his heart beating wildly in his chest. He wasn't sure if he was ready for this...

"Big Brother!" Satsuki waved wildly from the crowd and was bouncing up and down so he could see her. "Big Brother, I know you can do it! Beat Shingo good!"

A renewed strength filled his body. Gripping the wooden sword tightly in his grasp, Seiji smiled boldly at Shingo. He knew who was going to win this.

***

"Jeez, Big Brother, why didn't you talk to those girls? They were really looking at you."

"Er... Satsuki..."

"Heh, just kidding. You ever gonna get married or what?"

"Satsuki!"

"Kidding, kidding! Work on your Samurai Trooper skills first and then think about that stuff later..."

"Little brat."

"Old man. I love you, Big Brother."

***

"Wake up, Seiji."

Opening his eyes, Seiji found himself sitting in the front seat of Nastys jeep. Pushing himself up, he rubbed the side of his forehead and winced. The headache had ceased somewhat but the rest of his body continued to ache. God, what a horrible day this was and here he had been hoping it was all just a terrible dream.

Touma got out of the car and went to the other side. He opened the door for Seiji and helped him out, putting Seiji's arm around his shoulder.

"Come on," Touma said as he carefully walked them inside of the apartment complex. "You're staying the night. I'm not letting you go back home in this condition."

One would assume that the blonde was drunk when in reality he was a shattered man. Just the overall shock of his sister's actions slammed into him like a massive tidal wave. He didn't know what to do or how to handle it. If he had been Touma, Ryo, Shin, or even Shu he might've known how to react; but he wasn't any of his four friends, he was Seiji Date. He was Korin no Seiji. Most of all, he was a broken hearted man who lost his sister to his enemy.
