"Birthday Basher"
-A Chibi Troopers Side Adventure-

Author's Note: This is a story that involves the Chibi Troopers. This is not associated with my main story, "Choroiden-Chamurai Troopers." It's merely a side-story that I felt like writing while I struggle to finish CCT ^^; No bloody monsters, no mushy romance, just little kids doing what they do best... fight!

"Happy Birthday, Ryo!"

Chibi Ryo cheered as he jumped up and down on the couch and yelled birthday greetings to himself. It was August 15th and Chibi Ryo wanted to celebrate his birthday with presents, balloons, cake, and of course, his companions. Nasty was baking an appetizing chocolate and vanilla cake along with a delicious array of cookies. Byakuen bought a bunch of red balloons and red streamers to decorate the inside of the house.

"So how old are you now?" Chibi Touma asked as he suddenly joined Chibi Ryo on the couch. All of the children were waiting for Nasty and Byakuen to bring out the cake and presents. Chibi Touma tugged on Chibi Ryo's hand and asked, "Eighteen? Nineteen? Seven?!"

"I'm s'posed to be eighteen," Chibi Ryo pointed out with a huff, "but I look like I'm seven. So I guess if you put eighteen and seven together... Um... That makes..."

"Twenty-five," the blue-haired boy pointed out, doing the amazing quick calculation in his head.

Chibi Ryo cried out in shock and fell off the sofa, landing on his back in a daze. "Twenty-five?!" he exclaimed in a whiny tone. "I'm passed old people's age!"

"Don't let Nasty hear you say that," Byakuen chuckled as he entered the room, carrying a few presents. "She isn't that far from hitting that age... I don't think, that is."

Kokuen-Oh graced them with his appearance soon after, grumbling about being forced to attend a child's party when he could be elsewhere training himself. Byakuen gave him a light whap on the shoulder and laughed.

"Don't be such a grouch," he said to Kokuen-Oh. "You'll have fun! Birthday's are so much fun!"

"Yeah, right, and I swallow glass for a living," Kokuen-Oh retorted. He yelped as he received another whap along his shoulder. "Quit that!"

Byakuen merely laughed once more and helped Chibi Ryo to his feet. He watched as the two boys scrambled off to find the others; he grinned. He remembered when Ryo had to spend his birthdays alone (well technically he spent them with Byakuen). He had no human friends his own age and his father was often out on business, leaving Ryo and Byakuen by themselves to celebrate the coming of age.

"It's nice to see Ryo happy like this," Byakuen said as he arranged the presents on the table, making room for the cake and cookies.

"Yeah, real cute," Kokuen-Oh grumbled under his breath. He sighed but suddenly there was a knock on the door. He went to the front door and opened it only to find nobody in sight.

"What a waste of time," he scowled. "Making me come all the way out here and... Oh?" Looking down, Kokuen-Oh discovered a small white package wrapped with red ribbon. He bent down and picked it off the ground and upon doing so, discovered a note attached to the gift. The note read: "To the happy birthday boy."

~Maybe Byakuen dropped this one,~ Kokuen-Oh thought as he brought the package inside and placed it with the others. ~But how'd it end up outside? Oh who cares. I just want to have some cake and cookies! The little brats can play with the stupid presents but nobody will prevent me from eating to my heart's content!~

Moments later, Nasty brought out the deliciously sweet cake she baked for Chibi Ryo. All of the children gathered at the table and the two tiger men soon joined them. Chibi Ryo sat at the head of the table and Byakuen strapped a pointy birthday hat on his head.

"Time to sing!" Chibi Shu announced. "Time to party and eat food!"

Nasty placed the mouth-watering looking cake in front of Chibi Ryo and on the count of three, she led the singing of "Happy Birthday." Everybody sang; even Kokuen-Oh mumbled a few of the lyrics under his breath but forced his face to show that he was not enjoying himself. After they were finished, Chibi Ryo watched as Byakuen placed a bunch of candles on the cake and lit them one by one. Afterward, Chibi Ryo made a wish before blowing all the candles--Chibi Touma, Chibi Seiji, Chibi Shin, and Chibi Shu "helped" him by blowing out the candles he missed (much to the dismay of the birthday boy).

Now it was time for the presents. Chibi Ryo happily tore through the assorted gifts and received toys, candies, books, and video games. Finally there was one gift left and it was the one brought in by Kokuen-Oh.

"Kokuen-Oh-san actually got Ryo something?" Chibi Shin inquired, astonished that the mean tiger-man was in a giving mood.

Kokuen-Oh growled and paused from stuffing his face full of birthday cookies to glare at the Chibi Trooper of the Sea. "Shut up," he barked. "I found it outside and it was addressed to Rekka!"

"Let's see what it is!" Chibi Ryo cried as he pulled the gift over and proceeded to tear it open. Byakuen watched him for a few moments before sensing something terribly wrong. Before he could tell Chibi Ryo to stop, the package exploded!

Everybody fell back in his or her chairs as red and white confetti rained down. Chibi Seiji pulled himself up and helped Chibi Ryo off the ground. He pushed back his mass of blonde hair and gasped as he spotted someone standing on top of the table.

"G-G-Guys!" Chibi Seiji stammered. "Look! Someone's here!"

On top of the table stood a strange looking boy with white hair, red eyes, and wearing white and red armor gear. He held a giant fork and knife in his hands.

"I am Basher the Youja!" the boy announced with a sneer. "I am the youja spirit who has come to put an end to this human happiness!"

Chibi Ryo balled up his fists and gritted his teeth. "You! How dare you wreck my party!" he shouted angrily. "I won't forgive you, youja!"

"My house," Nasty groaned as she sat up, holding the side of her head. "Why is it whenever demons come to invade the world, they all have to wreck my house?" With that said she fell back to the ground, out cold.

Kokuen-Oh jumped to his feet with parts of the birthday cake smashed against the side of his head. Narrowing his yellow eyes, Kokuen-Oh tore off the clothes he wore and revealed his black and blue under-armor. Wordlessly he sprung forth and threw a punch at Basher.

Basher twirled aside as Kokuen-Oh flew by, missing him completely. Holding out his hand, Basher made a pie magically appear and as Kokuen-Oh turned around, smashed it into his face.

Byakuen gaped at Basher's speed and... choice of weapons. Never the less he sprung into battle, hoping to assist his moody partner in the fight.

"Time to get together and beat the Basher!" Chibi Ryo cried as he and the other Chibi Troopers got together. Holding their hands in the air, they shouted their armor-up phrases.

"BUSO CHIBI REKKA!"

"BUSO CHIBI TENKU!"

"BUSO CHIBI KORIN!"

"BUSO CHIBI KONGO!"

"BUSO CHIBI SUIKO!"

After a few minutes of cherry blossom petals, silk wallpapers, and dancing super-deformed versions of the Masho and Kayura, the Chibi Troopers were ready for action!

Drawing out his swords, Chibi Ryo asked Chibi Shu and Chibi Shin to place him on their shoulders. He then asked Chibi Touma to fire one of his arrows at him and for Chibi Seiji to unleash his attack at him.

"Are you sure?!" Chibi Touma asked as he drew out one little arrow from his quiver.

"We gotta hurry!" Chibi Ryo yelled as he looked over his shoulder at him. "That Basher youja is wrecking Nasty-san's house and picking on Byakuen and Kokuen-Oh!"

In the background, Basher was fighting both Byakuen and Kokuen-Oh his utensil weapons. No matter how fast the two tiger men moved, Basher seemed to be a step ahead of them. Every time they'd miss hitting him, they'd receive a pie in the face courtesy of Basher.

"I hate birthday parties!" Basher snapped as he jumped on Kokuen-Oh's head and landed on the second story banister, displaying himself before the others. "It's so sickening to see all these humans wasting their energy on stupid things like the celebration of life and being a year older. They should put that energy into fighting and conquering others weaker than you!"

"How about... No?"

Basher's eyes widen as he looked over at the one who dared to defy him. It was Chibi Ryo, the birthday boy himself. Holding up his fork and knife before him, Basher shouted, "You! You're going to disagree with me? Prepare to get a face full of youja-pie filled with evil and sprinkles of madness on top!"

"NOW!" Chibi Ryo cried. On command, Chibi Shu and Chibi Shin hurled him into the air as Chibi Touma and Chibi Seiji performed their duties.

"SHINKUHAA!"

"RAIKOUZAN!"

Chibi Ryo closed his eyes as he caught hold of the arrow and both Tenku's and Korin's powers wrapped around him like a protective blanket. He rode the arrow as he sailed over to Basher, who had no idea what was going on.

"Where'd you get such power?!" Basher shrieked. "WAH!"

Before he knew it, Chibi Ryo was almost upon him. Leaping off the arrow, the leader of the Chibi Troopers lifted his swords above his head and shouted, "SOUENZAN!"

Fire, wind, and lightning crushed Basher all at once. Basher screamed as he flew backwards and smashed against the kitchen wall. The fork and knife fell from his hands and he slumped against the wall, defeated. Chibi Ryo came to the ground and fell to his knees, panting heavily.

"Whew, that was close," he gasped before falling to his side, clearly exhausted.

"RYO!" Everybody cried out his name and rushed over to their fallen comrade. Byakuen kneeled beside Chibi Ryo and hugged him close as Kokuen-Oh sat behind him, quietly munching on some birthday cookies.

Chibi Ryo opened his eyes moments later and smiled. He gave everyone a thumbs-up but looked up as Basher crawled down from the second story level and landed before them.

"I can't stand this anymore," Basher sobbed as he fell to his knees, crying. "The real reason I attacked is because when I was human, nobody ever invited me to their birthday parties! I was as nice as nice can be and still nobody wanted me to come to their parties! So when I became a youja I vowed to ruin all birthday parties so people will know how it feels to be left out!"

The room fell silent. The Chibi Troopers quietly looked at Basher, feeling sorry for the poor youja. Nasty and Byakuen appeared sympathetic while Kokuen-Oh looked to be the only person in disagreement.

"Sorry, the party's full," he said as he reached over for some more cookies. "Now back to the cake and cook--!" Nasty's foot smashed on top of his hand, causing him to scream out in pain.

"Oh, I think we can *make* room," Nasty declared with an evil glint in her eye.

Five minutes later, Kokuen-Oh was outside of the house, banging on the door and demanding to be let inside.

"I know you're eating the cake without me!" he hollered. "I can hear you chewing! I have sensitive ears you know! I know all! LET ME IN!"

Inside the house, Chibi Ryo and Basher were sitting together at the head of the table, happily munching on the birthday cake. Chibi Touma and Chibi Shu were helping themselves to seconds and thirds as Chibi Seiji and Chibi Shin looked on, sweat dropping. Nasty and Byakuen proudly looked on at the joyful group of children enjoying themselves during this special occasion.

"You know what?" Chibi Ryo asked as he put a hand on Basher's shoulder.

Basher paused from eating his cake and asked, "What?"

"This is a birthday I'm never gonna forget!"

Basher smiled and added, "This is the best birthday party I've ever been to!"
