death before life, a gothic nightmare

()

"i may believe in nothing, but it is my nothing"
->richey james edwards<-

goths are seen by society as wierd and unapproachable, as many of us would testify, we are stared at in the street, laughed at behind our backs, but what exactly is goth, my answer to this question might not be right, but then again, what is right and what is wrong, these are questions we answer every day, based on the cultures we were brought up in. nothing is right, nothing is wrong, provided we can justify our views, no-one can condemn us for what we believe.

attitudes towards death and other matters are different for goths, as non-goths seem to be afraid and unable to speak about such issues, for goths, its routine talk. we are not afraid to die, quite the opposite, we look forward to death, we even know when we will die.

'life is coming to an end, so says me, me wiccan friend'
->type o negative<-

we might self injure ourselves, its our way of coping with our emotions, in a world which doesn't understand us!

we talk about death so openly it frightens non-goths, we accept the end of life as a normal process of life, we see ourselves as different from the society that spawned us, we look different, we certainly dress differently, and we live differently.

our music refects our views, from bands like 'cradle of filth' to 'type o negative', views on religion and death permeates our music, views to which we agree with to a greater or lesser degree.

one thing to note about goth, is that its a lifestyle, a way of living, thinking, a culture in its own right, not a fashion, we don't come home from town and change our clothes, dressing differently as soon as we get in, we look like this 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year, the only thing which changes about us, are the actual clothes we wear, which we obviously wash after wearing them all day.

we don't change the style of clothes, we dress in black or other dark colors. we wear make-up (even the guys), religious pendents, and lots of silver and black items. the black we wear reflects the dark side of humanity, we don't see humanity, we only see the evil of the world we happen to inhabit.

'it's not your fault that you're always wrong, the weak ones are there to justify the strong'
->marilyn manson<-

many goths have above average intelligence, it probably explains why we are quite often depressed, we see the worst that society does, while society itself is blind, deaf and uncaring, to the needs of the world's population.

many people are dying because of the wars which are ravaging our world, and the respected politicians inflame those wars by selling military equipment, people starve because the governments have no money to feed their people, and yet the very same governments waste money to buy arms to kill more people.

its because of this strange behaviour by the worlds population, that many of us are depressed, suicidal, and even attempt suicide, because we don't want to live in a world which is corrupt, perverted and evil. whether its right to commit suicide or not, at least its our choice to do so, we are not killing other people, like this perverted world does. the poor people of iraq were bombed by the capitalists, oil rules ok! forget the people!

suicide is normal for us, killing other people, isn't!

'i ain't hinting for sympathy,
i'm used to dealing with apathy,
the scars on my wrists may seem like a crime,
just wish me better luck, next time,
so what if i died a thousand deaths,
you think i'm insane, but i have no regrets,
one more time won't matter no question,
suicide is self expression'

->type o negative<-

society is corrupt, decadent, evil, uncaring, peverted and stupid. we question every aspect of our lives, even our very existence.

"i need a reflection to prove i exist"
->manic street preachers<-

and we are viewed as wierd for being goths!

this is dedicated to the eternal memory of dimebag
