Subj:  MINUTES OF FEBRUARY 2002 CPOA MEETING

1.  The regularly scheduled meeting was called to order by President
ASC Joe Graybeal on 07FEB2002 at 1510 at 789 Chief's Way,  NAS JRB
Ft Worth, TX.  Attendance recorded on the muster sheets was 62.  Head
count was 67.

2.  Minutes of the January 2002 meeting were accepted as distributed by
Secretary AZC(Ret) Gigi Farley, without being read.

3.  Treasurer's report was not available due to TAD for Treasurer NCC
Amy Hazel.

4.  COMMAND MASTER CHIEF'S BRIEF:  CMDCM Dave Pittman reported:

    a.  On 01MAR2002 Force Master Chief Mobley will be on base and will
address all Chiefs at the Goat Locker at 1500.  Plan to attend this all
Chiefs call.

    b.  The Skipper bought new flags for retirement and change of command
ceremonies.  Permission was received to buy a 12' trailer to house and
transport the bullets, flags, etc., for ceremonial events.  The inside
of the trailer will be outfitted especially for these items.

5.  COMMITTEE REPORTS:

    a.  PLAQUE:  AKC Margaret Mangum reported that ordered plaques are in. 
She displayed an item of interest for future retirees or for any
interested Chief.  Reminder that retirement plaque maximum cost for the
CPOA is $XX.  Any item cost over this amount must be paid by the person
ordering said item.

    b.  SOCIAL:  Vice Pres HMC Carlos Molina reported that ticket sales
for the Dining out will begin on Weds, 13FEB02.  Tickets can be purchased
through your Command's Social Committee representative.  Please provide
the following info when buying your ticket(s)/making your reservation(s):
name/rank/rate, date of rate, and menu choice (beef or chicken).  

The Dining Out will be on Saturday, 02 March 2002, at the Green Oaks
Inn, beginning with 1800 (6:00pm) reception followed by the Dining Out
at 1900 (7:00pm).  Guest speaker will be FMC Mobley.  Music and dancing
will follow.  

    c.  WAYS AND MEANS:  PNC Carl McKinzie reported the Bowling Tournament
is scheduled for 27 February.  24 people are needed and the cost is $10
a person.

Results of the Super Bowl Sunday Chili Cook-Off:  Best Chili,  ASC
Rodney Pittman; Worst Chili, ADCS Dan Maxwell; Most Unusual, PNC Steve
Meckel.

6.  OLD BUSINESS:

    a.  Be sure that you put your e-mail address is on the muster sheet
at the meetings if your address has changed or if you have an alternate
address you want to use.  This will help in getting CPOA information to
you.

    b.  Election of Officers:   Nominations for President:  ATCS Joe
Phillips, PNC Carl McKinzie, PRC Ken Bowman, PRC Mike Del Rio  and MSC
Jim Spencer.  After ballets were cast, Pres Joe announced the
President-Elect is ATCS Joe Phillips.  Congratulations, Joe.  We look
forward to a great year under your leadership.  Secretary is, once again,
moi, AZC (Ret) Gigi Farley.  Thanks for keeping me around for another year
...let's all make this the best one yet!!!!  Installation of officers
will be at the 07 MAR meeting.

7.  NEW BUSINESS:

    a.  ASC Rodney Pittman announced that there will be a Street Dance at
the Goat Locker on 04 MAY 2002.  There will be great food, music,
dancing and all the trimmings for this event...and guaranteed to be a
good time for all !!!

    b.  ADCS Dan Maxwell reported that Myrtle Thomas needs her carport
redone. The First Class POA has been called upon to assist manually and
monetarily.  It was moved and seconded that $XX.00 be allocated to fund
the carport renovation.  Motion carried.  Dan also presented GYSGT
James Hernandez to the CPOA.  Gunny James is interested in being
initiated this year.

    c.  TMCM Mark Seifert is having role play scenarios for the security
schools.  Contact him or WO Keiffer at XXXX if you want to volunteer. 
There are three morning sessions and three afternoon sessions.  Actors
are needed for all sessions.  They meet at the MWR area by the Hobby
Shop.  Come and participate!!!

    d.  ACC Dean Moyer reported that the Color Guard is having a barbeque
on Friday and requests the CPOA help sponsor them with a donation.  It
was moved and seconded that the CPOA furnish $XXX.00 to help defray the
food cost for the bbq in order to honor the Color Guard for their good
work.  Motion carried. 

    e.  NCCM Tony Vrba reported that there is an upcoming 3-day walk for
cancer.  In order to raise donations for this event, there will be a
breakfast every Friday and a lunch every Tuesday for the next two months.
These fund raiser "eats" will be held at Recruiting, Bldg 1564.  Contact
ext XXXX if you plan to attend at any or all of these "eats" so that
they can have enough food for all.  

8.  FOR THE GOOD OF THE ORDER:

    a.  WELCOME ABOARD TO:  MNC Mike Gonzales, NRC; AKC Mike Collier, AIMD;
AKC Tom Smith, ASD/Supply; and SKC Horton.

    b.  RETIREMENT:  Reminder that Chief Brazil retires on 9FEB02.
Khakis with combo.

    c.  ANNOUNCEMENTS:  Pres Joe requests that we support the 02MAR02
Dining Out.  Uniform will be Dress Blues with mini medals.

    d.  OUTSTANDING CPOA MEMBER OF THE MONTH AWARD was presented to
CMDCM Rick Mickey.  Congratulations, Rick.

e.   The meeting was adjourned at 1540.  The next regularly scheduled
meeting will be at 1500 on 07 March 2002 at the Goat Locker.  The Ways
and Means Committee will meet at 1400 prior to the meeting.  
Come early, stay late....we need you to participate !!!!!
