Ps 2:7 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.
Dawood was called the begotten son of God in the Psalms too so Jesus can not be the only begotten son of God. His being called such in the New Testament must be interpreted metaphorically if anything.
Ge 6:2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
Ge 6:4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
Job 1:6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.
Job 2:1 Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD.
Job 38:7 When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
Joh 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Ro 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
Ro 8:19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
Php 2:15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
1Jo 3:1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
1Jo 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
God has sons by the tons in the Bible. To be the son of God must be interpreted metaphorically not literally, if anything.
Joh 20:17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.
Jesus calls God: My Father and Your Father and My God and Your God therefore the father/son relationship between Jesus and God Almighty is the same as with us and God Almighty. We are all metaphorically speaking the ‘children of God’ and in this sense Jesus would be called a greater son of God
Due to his proximity with God but Jesus is not literally the “only son of God”. Islam avoids calling any creature of God a “son of God” due to its possible anthrompomorphic consequences and connotations. In Islam we call ourselves the “servants of God”.
Mt 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Lu 11:2 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.
Even in the Lords Prayer we call God the Father; Jesus uttered this as well as all of us therefore as God Almighty is the Father of Jesus as well as us, we are all metaphorically the sons of God. Islam though avoids this term “son of God” and accepts “servant of God”. God has no partners and sonship can easily be misconstrued as such.
Ac 13:33 God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.
Heb 1:5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?
Heb 5:5 So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee.
There have been such early Christian sects called “Adoptionists” who from the above verses concluded that Jesus was not always called the “begotten son of God” until “This Day”. So before that day he was not the begotten son therefore it is clear that “begotten son” is a title of respect and metaphorical not literal as most Christians today view it.
