BEFORE BREEDING
Any statements or comments made on this page are the personal opinions of the Institute, they are not meant to criticize any individual or group in their belief of proper breeding.
These are some questions every potential breeder should ask themselves.
1 - Do I or other breeders consider myself a professional breeder?
2 - Am I breeding to try to better the breed?
3 - Is my potential breeding stock registered with a national registry?
4 - Does my potential breeding stock meet the breed standard for it's registries?
5 - Have I received good comments about my dog from other professional breeders?
6 - Have I received good comments about my dog from any conformation judges?
7 - Have I shown my potential breeding stock in any conformation shows,
         in any of the follow regristies: AKC, UKC, CKC or NCA?
8 - Have I researched all the  breeds that I own for any genetic defects?
9 - Have I taken all genetic defects into consideration of both the stud and bitch?
10 - Have I done all the necessary tests on my  breeding stock to see if they are as heathly
           as possible before breeding, ex: OFA, MSU-THYOID, vWD and EYE CERF?
