One of the most troubling things to me is to hear people say that the founding fathers were deists. Though there is no real way to prove that they were not, there is even less evidence to prove that they were. If you go souly by what they wrote in the Declaration of Independence and the Mayflower Compact then you will see what I mean. There is one thing that I think that I can say with certainty, judged by what they themselves said, they would not approve of casting out the Ten Commandments from public buildings.
