SCRIPT NARRATOR: �One day way down in the Antarctic where the winds can reach up to 200 km/hr and the everyday temperatures are at 60 degrees below Zero, there lived Aura. Aura is the great spirit of the Antarctic. Aura could take many forms but she was currently appearing in the form of a seal so that she could watch over the animals she put on the great continent of Antarctica. Our story begins on a normal, suny day on the coastline of Antarctica with a young penguin named Leodis.�
SCENE 1:
Leodis scampers down the mountain. She zooms past the elephant seal and looks at the and their large mouths. She dives into the water and sees Shimmer on an iceberg. She swims toward the iceberg.
LEODIS: �Shimmer! Over here!�
Leodis swims up to the iceberg where Shimmer is and climbs on.
SHIMMER: �Hey Leodis! How is your mother doing?�
LEODIS: �She is okay, but not as good as I�d like her to be though. I�m sure she�ll be alright.�
SHIMMER: �I know how you feel, I felt the same way when my father was sick.�
LEODIS: �Yeah, I remember that. You were up every night praying for him.�
Shimmer starts to slide down the iceberg and turns back suddenly.
SHIMMER: �Oh! I almost forgot! Aura wanted to see you!�
LEODIS: �Why?�
SHIMMER: �I don�t know, but she said it was urgent.�
LEODIS: �Where did you hear this from?�
SHIMMER: �I heard Inooksha yelling it out this morning, you know her big mouth...�
Inooksha comes to the iceberg looking very angry.
INNOKSHA: �Excuse me! I DO NOT have a big mouth. I�m just overly sociable. I don�t see you trying hard to fit it Shimmer!�
Leoidsi jumps off the iceberg and into the ocean.
LEODIS: �Well, I�ll leave you with Inooksha Shimmer. Have fun!�
SHIMMER: �What are you talking about? I don�t need to fit in, I AM in!�
Leodis swims toward land, off set.
SCENE 2:
NARRATOR: �Leodis was somewhat confused. You see, he had never seen Aura before and didn�t know exactly what she wanted from him.�
Leodis swims up to Aura. Aura is swimming in a mystical cloud of sparkles.
AURA: �Welcome Leodis.�
LEODIS: �You... You sent for me?�
AURA: �Yes. I wanted to tell you that your mother doesn�t seem to be getting any better. She actually seems to be getting worse and if she goes on like this she may die.�
LEODIS: �Well, don�t you have special powers? Isn�t there anything you can do?�
AURA: �My powers aren�t used for that sort of thing. We have to let nature take it�s course. There is something you can do though.�
LEODIS: �What is it? I�ll do anything to keep my mother alive!�
AURA: �You have a great and unknown power Leodis. You can do something that no other penguin can do.�
Leodis scratches his head, trying to think.
LEODIS: �I do? I mean, I can? But what can I do?�
AURA: �Only you can touch the great healing rock inside the iceberg.�
LEODIS: �The great healing rock?�
AURA: �The great healing rock. This is the rock that will heal any wounds of the people you love. It has a very powerful liquid inside it. All you have to do is break it open and give it to your mother to drink.�
LEODIS: �But why am I the only one who can touch it?�
AURA: �I was getting to that. You see, the only person who can break through the strength of the iceberg is one whose heart is pure.�
LEODIS: �Where is this rock? Is it near?�
AURA: �You will have to go far into the depths of the ocean. It will be cold and dark, but if your heart is pure, it will guide you to the rock.�
LEODIS: �I will do it! Anything to save my mother! I just have one more question... how will I stay warm? My fur it thin and fluffy and if I have to stay in the water for a long time, surely I�ll freeze!�
AURA: �Young Leodis, all things have a purpose. Trust in your heart, and use your head. You should set out as soon as possible for we don�t have much time.�
Leodis turned around to check where the sun was in the sky and when he looked back, Aura was gone.
SCENE 3
Enter Shimmer and Inooksha, who are still bitterly arguing about nothing in particular.
NARRATOR: �Leodis had to hurry because he knew that time was running out. Before he knew it, he was saying goodbye to Shimmer and Inooksha, who were still arguing on the iceberg.�
LEODIS: �I�ll be back soon! Don�t worry about me!�
Leodis sets out in the water.
SHIMMER: �Come back safe and sound, alright?�
INOOKSHA: �Of course he�ll come back safe. What do you think, he�s going to try to get hurt?�
SHIMMER: �Nobody asked you!�
They continue arguing as they walk off the set.
SCENE 4
NARRATOR: �It was the afternoon before Leodis reached the mysterious iceberg. Aura told him to follow his heart and look for a purple rock. He had been travelling for a few hours and once or twice he decided that he needed to rest to get his energy back. He was getting cold and tired. It was still light out for it was summer in the Antarctic and in the summer the sun never sets. Leodis was very greatful for this because his fur was so thin that without the warm sun, darkness would have chilled him to the bone. Finally, he spotted something in the distance.�
LEODIS: �What�s that? I think... Is it purple? Can it be? It is! It�s the rock! Finally!�
Leodis quickly pulls out the rock and swims to the surface for breath. He cheers and then suddenly gasps. He sees something menacing in the distance.
Bloga, the nasty looking octopus creeps up to Leodis.
BLOGA: �Mmmmmmmmm..... Lunch!�
LEODIS: �Who...Who are y-you?�
Bloga swims around Leodis in circles, deciding which part of his body he wants to eat first.
BLOGA: �My name is Bloga and your name is lunch!�
LEODIS: �Oh, no... you see there must be some kind of mistake. I�m really not that tasty at all. My fur is pretty ragged and thin, surely an octopus of your... bigness wants a more tasty lunch. I�m more of a.... a throw back really!�
BLOGA: �I�m not picky! Lets give it here! I�ll have me some wings!�
Bloga grabs at Leodis and catches him by the wing.
Leodis bit Bloga�s tenticle and gets covered in ink as Bloga swis away. Because of the thick, black ink, Leodis loses his way and eventually becomes so overwhelmed that he passes out.
NARRATOR: �Leodis was knocked unconscious because of the ink from the octapus� tenticles. He was floating on top of the water and Aura looked on trying to will him to survive. Back on land, his mother had realized that Leodis was missing.�
MOTHER: �Where is Leodis?� She is weak and confused.
AURA: �Don�t you worry about that now. I�ll explain everything when he gets back.�
Kiara swims up to Leodis and pokes him until he finally wakes up.
KIARA: �Hey! Are you okay?�
LEODIS: �What- What are you?�
KIARA: �I�m not a what I�m a who! Kiara�s my name. You don�t look too good.�
LEODIS: �Where are we?�
KIARA: �On an iceberg. Just off shore.�
LEODIS: �Oooooohhhh.....� He rubs his head. �I have to get back to land!�
KIARA: �Okay. You sure are funny looking for a penguin.�
Leodis notices how his fur is all slick.
LEODIS: �Hey! My fur! It�s all.... It�s slick! And greasy! And I�m not cold anymore!�
KIARA: �Well, you may be funny looking, but if you�re warm, then who cares!�
NARRATOR: �Leodis and Kiara swim back to the shore and went straight to Aura�s rock where Leodis� mother was lying.�
AURA: �Ah! Look who�s back! Even though your journey was difficult, you heart stayed true and you made it.�
LEODIS: �How did you know my journey was difficult?�
AURA: �Let�s just say a little bird told me. Anyway, you are back just in time! Break open the rock and give it to your mother!�
Leodis gives the liquid to his mother and in a matter of seconds she jumps up and is better.
MOTHER: �Leodis! What happened to your fur?�
LEODIS: �An octopus sprayed ink on me and now my fur is stuck this way forever. I�m remarkably warm though!�
MOTHER: �Aura! Why did you not send someone stronger than my little son?�
AURA: �The rock could only be found by someone who is pure of heart. Leodis is that someone.�
Leodis and his mother hug.
NARRATOR: �Today all penguins have a slick coat of fur and every new born grows up hearing the legend of Leodis and the octopus. Leodis and Kiara are good friends to this day, and Shimmer and Inooksha are a little jealous.�
SHIMMER: �Leodis! You never spend time with me anymore now that Kiara is always around. What�s up with that?�
INOOKSHA: �Ha. Maybe he just sees you how you really are!�
SHIMMER: �NOBODY ASKED YOU!�
INOOKSHA: �NOBODY HAD TO!�
Leodis breaks their fight up.
LEODIS: �You are all my friends! I like everyone!�
AURA: �Excuse me, I have just found some exciting news. Kiara! Shimmer! Come here!�
KIARA: �Yes Aura?�
AURA: �Kiara and Shimmer are sisters! They were separated at birth!�
KIARA: �Wow! That is exciting!�
SHIMMER: �You said it sister!�
Kiara and Shimmer Hug.
INOOKSHA: �Oh brother.�
