| TEAM HISTORY | |||||||||||||||||||||
| -Arsenal F.C. was formed in the summer of 1993 (split from another team) -The name "Arsenal" was chosen by Adrian Jones, a life long Arsenal fan. -The founders of this team are: Adrian Jones, Nick Hill, Greg Cason and Will Singley. (Nick is an avid Manchester United fan so how the name of the team passed we'll never know) -The first two seasons were in the Amateur Division of the NMSA (93,94) and were fairly mediocre. In the 1995 Spring season success came for the club as they won the "Double", winning the League and Cup competition in the Amateur Division. As the Amateur League Champions Arsenal was promoted to the Open Division in the Fall of 1995 and the competition was strong. The first season was a disaster as they won only once (although it was against powerhouse Danka 2-1), relegation was inevitable. The Spring 1996 season again brought victory in the Amateur Division and promotion back to the Open Division, this time to stay until the Over 30 League called their name. -During the past seven years Arsenal has built up a friendly rivalry, comparable to that of a local derby match with Nashville United's over 30 team. Several Arsenal players played on Nashville United's Championship winning teams in 1996,97 & 98. -Three seasons ago Arsenal players, Adrian Jones, Nick Hill, Greg Cason, Will Singley and Peter Bruce decided to break away from Nashville United due to the increased number of players on that team. The group decided the could get back most of the Arsenal players who were now over 30 years of age and restart Arsenal as an over 30 team. -The first season in the Spring 1999 was not so great, finishing 8th in the table, but the following season saw significant improvement finishing 6th and beating the top two teams without conceding a goal to either team. -The Spring 2000 season was reasonably successful with a 5th place finish and the addition of three more creative and attack minded players to the forward line as well as midfield. -The team roster for the Fall 2000 season has been reduced to 17 players although at the seasons start there are actually only 16 active members on the team. Some of the previous seasons players moved on, and it has actually strengthened the quality of the roster. -We are currently in 4th place, with three games to go and have created, and more importantly scored, more goals than in any previous campaign. -We are GUNNING for a 3rd place finish!!!!!
