The Bejcek of Nezpecov

Czech version

are an old family of knights of Bohemia. They appear on the historical scene towards the end of the 15th century. They come from the northwest of Bohemia, the region of Teplice. They are relatives of the Velvets of Nezpecov, who gained the village of Velvets as a vasalage to the castle of Sukoslav /now Kostomlaty/ at the beginning of the 14th century. A part of the members of the family moved to East Bohemia, another part remained at their native Velvets, while others settled in the South of Bohemia, where they accepted the name of Bejcek
In the blue field of their coat-of-arms they had two ostrich feathers and two spurs.
They are mentioned again in the connection with the purchase of a fortified mansion Cichtice near Vodnany. Pribik Bejcek of Nezpecov together with his sons Jan and Vaclav sen. are reported as owners of not only Cichtice but also of Little Blanice, now only Blanice
Another member is connected with owning Protivec not far from Prachatice. In the 17th century the traces of the family are slowly but definitely disappearning. Jan Depolt Bejcek was probably the last one reliably proved. Having no heirs he left the estate of Chomutice to his wife Anna Regina of Janovice. When even she died, he left it to Jan Depolt Ladislav Kousek of Sobeticky. There are no more news about them, the whole clan either died out or completly lost their importance.
During the rebelion of the Eastes in 1618-1620 Jan, Jindrich, Pribik and Lyther took part in it, but they were pardoned without being treated. And yet Lyther emigrated, his properites came over to his relatives.
The relatives of the Bejcek of Nezpecov were the Janovskys of Janovice , the Kocis of Dobrs, and other families of upper and lower nobility. Pribik of the Bejceks of Nezpecov together with Mikulas of Kadov acted in summer 1625 as godfather to the sixth son of Jan Jiri Harant sen. of Polzice and Bezdruzice.
