| On the right, is my father next to the Cassin Young's forward gun. To the left, is a larger picture of me standing next to the same gun. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| <<<<Now right over there is the main gun for the ship, as seen in the other pictures. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| And now the pride of the Navy Yard, the oldest U.S. warship still listed on Active Duty. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| The famous USS Constitution, also known as Old Ironsides. Views are from port and aft. Look in the left-side background to your left for a glimpse of Cassin Young. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| One of the ship's cannons located on the main deck. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Me, below-decks, with another cannon. Don't qoute me on this, but I believe this was supposed to have been a cannon taken from a British fort after a battle and not one of the cannons originally built for the ship. There's supposed to be a special seal on the cannon identifying it as belonging to the King. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| A view of the inside, facing the bow from where the cannon picture was taken. So, basically, what I was seeing when it was having my picture taken. The steps on the left lead back to the deck. They're very narrow and there's not much of an opening. The whole interior is cramped, given the shorter stature of men back then. Anyone over 5'8" would've been a Marine in the crow's nest and good thing: they wouldn't have ever been able to walk around in there. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
