I wandered into the grocery store and grabbed a buggy. I had a mental checklist of the things I needed to get. I wandered up and down the isles occasionally grabbing what I needed.
I was walking through the meat section, looking down as I was pushing my cart, when I accidentally ran into someone. I was about to apologize when I saw who it was. �Sorry� I said, quickly picking up the steaks. I threw them into my cart and headed off into the other direction. I felt like someone was watching me so I turned around, and the there she was, the girl I had accidentally bumped into minutes before. I knew who she was but I had no desire to speak with her.
I couldn�t get away fast enough; I stopped when I heard her call my name. �Hey Shannon� the girl said trying to put on a friendly smile. �Hi� I said a little confused. She stuck out her hand �I�m Mel� the girl said. I shook her hand and tried to break free of the conversation. �Nice to see you I hafta go� I said quickly turning around and heading for the Dairy section. She stopped me once again �Look, I know that you don�t know me very well, but I just thought I should warn you. Beth is crazy and she wants Shane back. I don�t know what line she will cross to get him.� Mel said with a serious look to her. �Thanks for the warning.� I said, as I started to walk away I turned back around �tell Beth, I don�t give up so easily and she will have a helluva time trying to get him from me�. And with that said I continued shopping.
I paid for the groceries and headed out to the truck. I loaded up and took off, I was so furious all I could do was scream. �Now I feel better� I said turning into the parking lot of Billy Ballew Motorsports. I parked the truck and Shane came waltzing out. He hopped into the passenger side and gave me a quick kiss on the cheek. �How�d it go?� he asked. I just rolled my eyes �we are having steak� I answered flatly. Shane looked at me and rubbed his hand across my leg �OK what�s wrong?� he asked. �I saw Beth�s friend Mel at the store, she pretty much said that I would hafta fight for you� I answered putting the truck in reverse. Shane chuckled �Don�t listen to them, you know I am not going anywhere� he responded. I just shook my head and continued driving.
We pulled up to Jr�s house and Shane helped me carry in the groceries. We walked in and I yelled for him. I could here him bounding up the stairs down from Club E �hey guys� he said taking the bags out of my hands. He placed them on the counter and gave me a quick kiss on the cheek.
Shane put his down and started unloading groceries. �Dude ya�ll will never guess who I ran into at the store� Jr said laughing. �Who?� Shane asked crumpling up one of the bags he had emptied. Jr smirked before he answered �Beth�. I rolled my eyes �What did she have to say?� I asked.
�She started talking about how she was going to break you and Shane up� he answered, laughing harder now. �Yeah well I ran into Mel at the store��. Ironic�� and she pretty told me the same thing.� I said looking at Jr.
�No way� Jr said. He grabbed the steaks and started opening the packages so he could marinade them. He opened the fridge �shit i'm out of Moore�s� he said. I reached into a bag and pulled a bottle out.
Jr poured the Moore�s over the steaks and walked out of the kitchen so he could light the grill. Shane walked up to me and wrapped his arms around my waist. �You know I am not going anywhere� he asked looking me in my eyes. �Yeah� I said. Shane slowly leaned in and kissed me, we were quickly interrupted when Jr came back into the kitchen. �Dang ya'll� Jr said putting the lighter on the counter. Shane blushed and let go of my waist.
The night went good. We all ate out dinner and chatted about Shane�s next race, which was only a week away. Once everyone had finished I cleaned up the dishes and Shane and Jr sat down to play games.
I walked into the computer room and pulled one of the spare chairs out from one of the desks and pulled it in between Jr and Shane. I watched as the boys competed, laughing because they took it so seriously.
By the end of the night I was exhausted. I grabbed my purse as we were walking out the door �Thanks for dinner� Jr said giving me another friendly kiss on the cheek.
Shane and I walked to the truck and climbed in. Before he even started it I was already nodding off to sleep�..
