| Chapter 10 Damn sun I said, covering my face with the pillow. I heard a slight chuckle come from the other side of the bed. I peeked out from underneath the pillow and smiled when I saw those blue eyes staring at me. Morning I said, searching underneath the covers for his hand. I found it and intertwined my fingers with his. Did you sleep well? I asked, still peering out from beneath the pillow that shielded my eyes from the sunlight. Kasey nodded, still grinning. We laid there, in silence for a few moments. Hungry? Kasey asked as I finally uncovered my head. A little I answered. I felt Kasey unclasp his hand from mine; he slowly slid it under the covers until he reached my back. He placed his hand on the small of my back, making small circles with his fingers. Kase, shouldnt you be getting ready for practice? I asked, realizing that it was already 9 a.m. Trying to get rid of me? he asked, feigning hurt. Yup I answered, sticking my tongue out at him. I hopped up out of bed and walked into the bathroom, making sure I grabbed my bag of clothes on the way. Kaseys POV After a few minutes Shay came out of the bathroom wearing a pair of adidas snap pants and a wife beater with a sports bra underneath. Where are you going? I asked, noticing she was putting on her tennis shoes. Running, I should have gone at 5 a.m. but SOMEONE kept me out all night my guess was that I was the someone. I smirked as she stood up. Her body hadnt changed much in four years; she always had an athletic body. Wanna come? she asked as she crawled across the bed, sitting on her knees in front of me. I would but I want to rest before practice, plus I need to go find Tommy to talk to him I replied. She leaned in and kissed me, I smiled as I watched her bound out the door. Shays POV I had jogged a good 3 miles when I heard a noise behind me. I turned around, still jogging, and saw Dale Jr on a golf cart. He smiled a grin that wasnt too comforting to me. I saw intentions that he shouldnt have when I looked at him. Hey I said, turning around and jogging forward again. He pulled the golf cart up next to me and kept my pace. Whats up? he asked, watching me. Just jogging I said, distantly. Jr kept the golf cart at the same pace as my jogging, asking random and absurd questions. I had finally reached a point where I decided to turn around and jog back to the track. Jr did not give up, he turned the cart when I did and continued riding next to me. Want a ride? he asked after a couple minutes of silence. No I said, still looking straight ahead. Why would I want a ride, i'm jogging for a reason dumbass I said to Jr, but not out loud. It was beginning to aggravate me that Jr was following me. I was never one to tell anyone what they should or should not do, but this time might have been different. Is there a reason you have just followed me 4 and a half miles? I asked, looking at my watch, avoiding the stare I was getting from the bothersome man in the golf cart. I wanted to talk he said, matter-of-factly. About? Jr chuckled. How cocky I thought to myself. You I rolled my eyes and cocked my eyebrow at him. Why? I asked. Because I like you and I want to know more about you he said. The arrogance in his voice was about to make me scream. Listen I finally snapped I dont like you! Now, if you dont mind, I have to finish my jog I said, picking up my pace. He rode for a few seconds before he sped off. Good god what is that boys problem? Does he think he is gods gift to women? I said aloud to myself. I was furious with this man who was nothing but a cocky, arrogant, asshole. I finally made it back to the track. I walked through the gate, letting my heart rate come down. I made my way through the hoards of people that were walking around the garages before the Busch race. I finally arrived at Kaseys garage. He was talking with a reporter about his weekend. I sat back and watched him, smiling when I thought back to the days he used to race in Washington. After his wins, how scared he would be to talk on the microphone. As soon as the reporter left, Kasey was making his way towards me. Well my day just got ten millions times better he said, kissing me on the cheek. I blushed at his compliment. How is everything? I asked, glancing over to where Tommy and the rest of the crew were working away. Kasey grinned Not too bad he said. Kasey showed me around the garage, stopping by a few of his friends to introduce me. You really dont have to do this I said, smiling up at him. I know he said walking up to Mikey Waltrips garage. He stopped and started to turn and walk away when he noticed Dale Jr standing behind Mikey but Jr stopped him. Hey guys he said, jogging up to us. Kaseys POV Damn doesnt he learn? I said to myself as Jr approached. I grabbed Shays hand, glancing at her from the corner of my eye. She looked about as uncomfortable as I felt. Hey there is a party over at my place tonight, nothing big. I just wanted to invite ya Jr said, focusing more on Shay than me. I felt anger course through me as it took all my power not to throw my fist at his face. Shay looked up at me; I couldnt read the look on her face. What time? I asked, trying to be civil. Seven he said before turning and walking off. Jrs POV Thats her I said to Mikey as I walked back into his garage. He turned and looked at the girl who Kasey had a tight grip on. Watching them walk away I couldnt help but think of how good it would be if she was in my bed tonight instead of Kaseys. Mikey snapped me out of my thoughts. Bud, you better not start any trouble. I have seen when you go after taken girls, it always ends horribly. Mikey said trying to give me some friendly advice. I just nodded, still watching Kasey and Shay as they made their way back to the coaches. BACK HOME NEXT |
