Chapter 16

"Hey" Kat smiled as she pulled the door open. Kasey was standing there in his tuxedo, looking damn good. Kat looked him up and down but stopped when she got to his shoes. "Kasey Kenneth Kahne you are NOT wearing tennis shoes to the Banquet" Kat chided, stifling a laugh. "Why not?" Kasey asked, looking down at his shoes. "Because you cant wear tennis shoes with a tux" she said turning and walking into the room. Kasey followed behind her and threw his dress shoes down by the door "I just didnt want to walk around in those for an hour before we go, they hurt my feet" he smirked. "And besides how are you going to pick on me? Look at what you are wearing". Kat's mouth dropped and she put her hand over her chest, feigning hurt. "You dont like my outfit?" she asked, turning around so the fabric of the terry bath robe swished around her legs. Kasey chuckled and walked up to her "you can go in a potato sack and you would probably be the prettiest person there".

Kat shook her head and walked in, grabbing a bottle of water out of the mini fridge. "So why are you so early?" she asked, leaning up against the back of the couch. Kasey looked at her, not sure if he should tell her the whole truth. "Kale and his 'date' were there and they were driving me crazy" he answered, sitting next to her. He didnt lie to her; he just didnt tell her the whole truth. Kat was oblivious and Kasey hoped she would stay that way all night. "Ok well I am going to finish getting ready" Kat said standing up and walking into the bedroom. Kasey plopped down on the couch and flipped on the TV.

Kasey was pacing outside of the bathroom door, checking his watch every 30 seconds. "Are you almost ready? We are going to be late" he huffed. Kat chuckled; she could hear the nervousness in his voice. "Ill be out in just a few babe" she answered, sliding her other earring into her ear. Giving herself a once over, she walked out into the bedroom. Kasey looked up from the TV at her, trying to find words but finding himself unable to speak. "You like?" she asked, looking down at herself. She smoothed her hands over the silky fabric of the low cut red dress. Kasey was still speechless. "DO I look that bad?" Kat asked, nervously awaiting any sort of response from Kasey. "No you look that good" Kasey managed to sputter out. He stood up and walked over to her, placing one hand on her cheek he guided her lips to his. He kissed her lightly, sucking her bottom lip. "Kase" she said against his lips "werent you just bitching about how so late we were going to be". Kasey simply shook his head, his lips not leaving hers. Kat pulled away and walked to the edge of the bed. She slid her shoes on and turned back around to see Kasey gazing at her. "Ok now what?" she said throwing her hands up in defeat dont like my shoes?" she looked down. "Nope just thinking about how good you look in that dress" he smirked and kissed her on the nose "also thinking how great you are going to look out of it". Kat rolled her eyes "you are SO corny" she quipped, playfully smacking him in the chest. "Come on you little hornball" she said, grabbing her little purse and shawl.

The two met Kale and his 'date' in the lobby. Kasey seemed very uncomfortable as soon as they had joined them. "Wow, Kat you look amazing" Kale said, complimenting her girly appearance. "Thanks" Kat said, blushing slightly. "Kale man, remember she is Melissa" Kasey said, making sure Kale remembered so he wouldnt call her Kat in front of any sort of media. "Kase, dont I look good?" the girl randomly interrupted. Kasey didnt acknowledge or even glance at the girl. Kat saw the girl roll her eyes, and she tried to stifle a chuckle but a small giggle slipped out. The girl glanced over at Kat, a look of evil glazed over her eyes. The girl immediately turned her attention back to Kasey. Kat could tell the girl was more interested in Kasey than in Kale so she knew what she was about to do was going to piss her off.

Kat stood on her tip toes and leaned in to Kasey's ear "Baby if you give me a kiss right now, I promise you will get to see me out of the dress later" she whispered. Kasey gave her a confused look but quickly wisened up when he saw Leah glaring at them. Kasey smirked at how evil Kat could be, leaning in he planted a kiss flat on her lips. Kat smiled against his lips when she felt Leah's eyes boring a hole into the back of her head. The two pulled apart and Kat winked at him causing him to chuckle.

The group walked towards the banquet hall where everyone stood around waiting until right before the show to get into limos and arrive. As soon as we entered the room, Kale and Leah were drug off somewhere by Ray, giving Kat a chance to grill Kasey on the girl. "What's up that chicks ass?" she asked, as soon as they were out of earshot. "Long story" Kasey replied, rolling his eyes. "Well spill, cause I wanna make sure I am not doing something to someone important when I take off my heel and hit her in the forehead with it" Kat smiled. Kasey laughed "You were always a feisty one, remember that night" Kat interrupted him "you want the heel? Cause I sure as hell wont put it in your forehead when I hit you with it" she said, narrowing her eyes. "Ok Ok Ok, Leah and I dated. I had invited her to the banquet but she decided to dump me for Jamie a few months back. Well she showed up expecting to still be going with me, I told her dream on and somehow she convinced Kale to bring her. I think he thinks she will give it up later since he did" Kasey explained quickly, noticing the two walking back over.

The night was pretty uneventful, but still went well. Kasey's rookie speech was amazing, even Kat couldnt tell he was nervous. Everyone had been invited to a party that was being thrown by the 'Party King' Dale Jr. "You sure you wanna go?" Kasey asked, throwing his arm around Kat. Kat nodded and they walked outside into the street. Kasey hailed them a cab, opening the door for Kat he slid in after her followed by Kale. "Where am I going to sit?" Leah whined. "You can sit with me pretty lady" the nasty ass cab driver winked at her. Kat started to laugh hysterically causing Leah to shoot her another nasty glare. "Keep it up sweetheart, and you might want to start practicing that glare with only one eye" Kat mumbled causing Kasey and Kale to chuckle slightly. The cab driver pulled out into traffic and made his way across town to the club where the party was being thrown.
