| Chapter 12 3 months later...... "Did you get them?" Kasey's soft voice asked. "Yes I got them, but I am still not sure about all of this" Kat whined, contorting her face. Kasey chuckled, he already knew she was making a pouty face even though he couldnt see her. "Stop the pouty face! You will be fine, I promise I just want you there" Kasey said. Kat knew the right thing to do was to attend the awards banquet with him, but she still wasnt sure she should be out in the public eye. They had decided that since she had looked so much different than she had 3 years ago that it would be safe for her to go with him. Even though she had agreed to do it, she was still apprehensive about it. Kasey had sent her a plane ticket so she could fly out to New York a couple of days before the banquet. Kat hung up the phone and leaned back on the bed, taking a deep breath. She had to leave for the airport in less than 2 hours and still had to pack half of her luggage. Sitting up, she picked up the photo next to her bed. Smiling as she looked at the picture of her and Kasey sitting at the beach, her head was resting on his shoulder and his hand was lovingly draped behind her. Kat chuckled as she remembered that day. "God it feels good to be away from the track for a weekend" Kasey said, looking down the beach. "Yeah I dont know how you got me here but im sure glad you did" she smiled. Kasey had shown up at her front door with a bag and two plane tickets, taking her away for the weekend so they could be alone. "Hey Kat?" he asked, nervously biting his lip. "Yup?" she asked, watching him start to fidgit. "Ijustwantedtotellyouiloveyouandimgladyoucame" he spit out quickly. Kat chuckled and shook her head "wait huh?" she said, not catching on right away to what he had said. "Nothing" Kasey said, turning his head away from her. "Kase what did you just say?" she asked, nudging his arm. He turned around and looked at her, his eyes squinting from the beaming sun. "I just said that I am glad you came" he smirked. Kat narrowed her eyes "before that" she retorted. "I wanted to tell you?" Kasey asked, playing coy. Kat finally gave him a glare "Ok fine, I said I love you". He huffed playfully and smiled, Kat just rolled her eyes. "You are one silly ass brat ya know that? But.... I love you too" she smiled. Kat's cell phone snapped her out of her daze. Chuckling as she looked at the caller ID, she answered it. "Joe's morgue you stab um' we slab um" she answered. Kasey just laughed "you are too much" he stated. "What do ya need, or did you just call me to make me even later than I am already going to be?" Kat asked, smirking when she heard him huff. "Well fine I didnt want to talk to you anyways" Kasey said, his voice high pitched to emulate a child. "Funny, now seriously what did you need?" she asked, digging through her drawers and throwing stuff into the luggage. "I wanted to remind you to bring that little surprise you had for me" he said quietly. "What surprise, I dont know what you are talking about" she stated, stifling the chuckles that were threatening to spill. "You know" Kasey said, his voice still above a whisper. "Nope sorry I dont" she chuckled slightly but mangaed to cover it up with a fake cough. With a chuckle Kat said a quick goodbye to Kasey and hung up the phone, bursting out in laughter as soon as she knew the phone was off. She walked over to the drawer and pulled out a box and set it on top of her luggage, zipping it when she was finished. ****** "Kale?" Kat asked as she walked up to the blonde man standing in the terminal. He whipped around, smiling when he saw her. "Hey! How are you?" he asked, giving her a slight hug then pulling away. "Good, where is your brother?" she asked, looking around. "Kasey had a meeting and asked me to pick you up" Kale smiled, she could tell he was happy. Kale helped her get her luggage and carried it out to the front of the airport. He glanced around and finally saw what he was looking for. They walked over to a black SUV that was sitting out front waiting, a man standing by the back door. "Mr. Kahne" the man nodded as he took Kat's luggage from them. Kale smiled "the perk of being a Kahne". Kat chuckled and walked around to the back passenger side, where the man was waiting with the door open. "Thank you" she said politely as she slid inside. Kale got in behind her and the driver shut the door. "Please tell me your brother isnt getting a big head and has a driver now" she whispered. Kale shook his head no "he got it so we wouldnt have to take a cab". Kat nodded and continued to talk to Kale, all the while taking in the sights of New York City. Kat watched as the driver got out of the truck when they stopped in front of a large hotel. He opened the door for them and they climbed out. Kale immediatly went and helped him with the bags. "Wow" Kat said, looking up at the Hotel. She had seen the Waldorf in pictures but had never imagined she would ever be there. "Is this where we are meeting Kase?" she asked as Kale returned to her side. "No this is where we are staying" Kale chuckled and started to walk inside. Kat follwed behind him, her eyes as big as sausers as she took it all in. They walked quickly through the lobby and headed for the elevators, only to be stopped when they heard their names. "Kale, Melissa" they both turned to see Kasey walking towards them. "Hey" he said, taking the bag from her. He quickly wrapped his hands around her waist and pulled her to him "I missed you" he said, his warm breath againt her neck. "I missed you too, and I cant believe you remembered to call me Melissa" she whispered. Kasey smiled as he took a deep breath, she smelt like Jasmine. His favorite. Pulling away he took her by the hand and they headed off towards the elevators. They walked past Kale and he followed behind them, making kissy noises behind their back. "Shut it Kale!" they both said at the same time, causing the three of them to chuckle. BACK HOME NEXT |
