OBEMLA (Office of Bilingual Education and Minority Languages ) and NABE 2000 were held in San Antonio, TX on February 15th -19th.
It was NABE's largest conference ever, with appoximately 7000 people in attendance. We had the opportunity to visit select schools
within the SAISD and to attend a great viariety of bilingual workshops. Some well- known contributors to bilingual education were
also there to speak and sign books, posters and music. Some of these were: Jim Cummins, Ontario Inst. for Studies in Education, Canada;
Stephen Krashen, University of Southern California; authors Alma Flor Ada, Del Sol Publications; Lada Kratky, Hampton Brown Books;
singer and song writers F. Isabel Campoy, Del Sol Publications; Jose Luis Orozco; and painter and illustrator Sim�n Silva.
Besides seeing old acquaintences, we made many new ones from all over the country. Hope to see you all again someday!

Las conferencias de OBEMLA (Office of Bilinbual Education and Minority Languages ) y NABE 2000 fueron en San Antonio, TX ,
del 15 al 19 de febrero. Fu� la conferencia m�s grande con una assistencia de approximadamente 7000 personas. Tuvimos la
opportunidad de visitar algunas esculas del distrito de San Antonio y de assistir a una gran variedad de talleres educationales.
Algunos personajes importantes en el area de educaci�n biling�e estuvieron presentes para dar platicas, firmar libros, carteleros
y m�sica. Algunos de estos eran:
