Erin Daria and Nate Carterr discussed whether or not they'd stay in the City in the event the Nukes were coming back in force. Nate seemed to believe they were and that if they did the best thing to do was fight them... or run like hell. He hadn't really decided. It discouraged him greatly that a good Ranger was in the Garrison stockade and a crazy Ranger was in command of Ricoh's Rangers. Discouraged... more like pissed him off. But he wasn't in the Legion anymore, as much as it was in his blood. He needed time away from all of it... time with just his girl and their baby. A vacation out in the direction of the Gorge seemed a wise idea if they could get Erikk to agree to letting them run off a while. They'd torture him over dinner with Shin, who'd arrived near the tail end of their talk. Erin listened to Shin discuss his sister's kidnapping but she had mentioned meeting this Reverend captive that Nate was sure he wouldn't be able to get a look at and that was the thing that gnawed quietly at Nate as they headed in for dinner.
While they talked, Aimiable was building things somewhere inside the Embassy building... intricate things that no one else would probably have understood at first glance. Hannah was practicing at the newly completely Museum gymnasium. Hannah had convinced Simonn that the Mages needed to improve on their fighting skills, something very in tune with the Steward's own view of things. In fact, Williams had Detrich working the young mages through many physical exercises in order to bring them into better harmony with their bodies as well as increase their chances of 'healthy casting.' The magi could not always use their magic and being in good physical shape would be a boon to them. So far, most of the students learning under the Freemen run physical fitness program for the mages were only younger men and women. Simonn thought perhaps tiny Hannah, with her knives and easy going style would be just the ticket to subtly alter the thinking of the older mages. Besides, watching her practice was enticingly riveting. If nothing else, Simonn would get others into the gym just to watch Hannah move. Though the more he thought about it, the more he was sure he wanted to watch her all by his lonesome.
The Reverend Kall'mahkk stewed in his jail cell fearful that Lida's brother's words were true: that he had only brought Lida to her death. His own he could well tolerate, but he wasn't sure he could stand to see her die at the hands of those unwilling even to listen to what he had to say.
As for her brother, Adil Mennth knew the Ranger Commander position was cursed. But he'd takent he job anyway. He still couldn't explain exactly why...maybe he liked the power, maybe he was just an idiot. Idiot se emed the right answer as he planned ... somewhere else.
Sherridann sat outside the Firehouse disassembling and reassembling a gun in the fashion she'd heard Bliss say Ricoh Gideonn had done a few years back when he'd been temporarily blinded and his twin deafened in an explosion. It was confidence building to hear the parts snap together and to know she'd done it right. Spiderr, adopted youth and uncannily ressembling certain members of the family, watched Danni at her work. Spiderr thought she might build the explosives she used to build in much the same way, but she was just as sure she couldn't. They got onto the topic of friends and family whereupon Danni wondered at Spiderr's insistence on lingering around her when she was generally a downer. Spiderr told her she was pretty, she disagreed, Spiderr teased her and darted in to kiss her cheek. She made a mock fuss over it, pretending to fall back in a feint on the hood of the car on which she sat. Spiderr set to tickling her which led to accidentally kissing her on the lips. It was as nice as kissing her on the cheek had been and while she was a bit startled from it, but didn't run off, Spiderr decided to do it again.
During that second kiss, Danni stopped Spiderr and explained that their age difference made the kiss an unacceptable thing, though Spiderr insisted on knowing what old enough meant. Danni tried to explain that she was nineteen... but she wasn't sure how old Spiderr was even if Spiderr was taller than when Spiderr had first come to live at the Firehouse.
It was a topic Spiderr would pursue because the kiss had been a very sweet thing and Spiderr found the feeling very appealing.
