But we played Manly Vale A and they were top of the table . Having said that we gave them a really good game and the score (4-0) didn't reflect the true game. It should have been 2-0 but without a referee we had to rope one of the guys into doing it and without being mean but he made some mega mistakes that cost us.. oh well.
So starting line up was quite different - Lee & Kate were late so he punished them by putting them on the side line.. bummer - we needed them!

Callie was injured so Sharna was back as sweeper but he soon put Callie back on and put Sharna as left midfield which she did really well. Carrie was fantastic as striker - passing the ball back, running wide etc etc She & Tash had training as strikers on Thursday and she picked it up so quickly.
First goal was very naff. There were about 18 girls in the box all kicking it back and forth and there was sand flying and no one really saw what happened but it ended up in the back of the net! doh! that was only about 10mins in.
Just before half time, Ann accidently handballed it (outside the box) so they got a free kick - they took it and the girl did the nicest kick over the wall and into the back of the net. Rousey blew his whistle indicating the goal was in. Peter started yelling... and then so did the guys on the sideline. Apparently it should have been an indirect free kick... Rousey was in quite a muddle as then Manly Vale started saying "yes it was meant to be direct". Rousey didn't know what to do and said "oh well I awarded it, it counts"
DAMN IT!! He came up at half time and apologised and said "sorry girls it should have been infirect free kick...." sigh.. just our luck!!
Anyway half time and he changed the line up to

We dominated play in the 2nd half big time. But Rousey did another cracker and gave them a penalty for a really soft call - he said that Callie sandwiched their striker! oh the boys gave Rousey grief for that afterwards!! It was definately not a penalty.. anyway Elaine dived the right way but it just bounced under her armpit. Oh so close to saving it!
So we battled on and had some good opportunities on goal. It was working really well with Carrie as striker because she passed the ball back and worked with midfield etc. Kate took a while to get into the game when Peter finally let her on but she made a big difference. Kathy had a cracking game as well. Peter then made lots and lots of changes so everyone got really confused.
Then in that last dying minutes they managed to score another goal! Actually this was the only goal that should have counted in my professional opinion. We had about 3 defenders on the girl with the ball and she just passed it to the other girl who was umarked and she scored. Easy goal - bad defending from the Beanies..
So a good game in that we played much better and it was a tough game but we did well. But a bad game cause we lost and espcecially as 2 goals shouldn't have been allowed!! Oh well.
I think Carrie will be a permanent feature as striker - she was really good. And Marday had a great game as right back - she has a big kick on her!
Pete was very "encouraged" with our game and the Manly Vale coach complemented us. We could certainly give that team a good run next time round.
But Seaforth next weekend - we have to make sure we maintain our good team work and soccer skills! GO THE BEENIES!
