The Fulham Flat
Donna and I moved to Fulham after living in Willesden Green with Luke, Wendy, Brook and the occasional guest. As we were all going our separate ways we needed to organise a new place to live. We wasted a weekend looking at a few flats in our price range but nothing was up to our expectations and requirements. It wasn't until I was at the pub after work one day that I was able to secure a deal with a co-worker Craig. He was moving out the same weekend as us to live with his girlfriend so Donna and I were able to move in at the same time. We helped Craig move into his new place and keep in regular contact as he likes a pint and is a Unix admin like myself.

Plan View Here is a layout of the flat. Its not to scale and is slightly wrong but its not to bad considering I was a bit tired when I made it. One thing I forgot the write was that the little room to the right of the bedroom is our bathroom. Couldn't be bothered fixing it now though. |

The Bedroom. The bedroom fits a double bed and not a lot else. We have builtins at the other end for our clothes. For some reason this flat has a lot of chairs so we have one positioned each side as bedside tables. We have never turned the lamp on in the corner and I don't usually notice that its there. On the left of the photo you may notice the heater, we have 6 of these in the house as well as a bar heater that plugs into the mains. This central heating makes it a very cosy place in winter. Much better than Willesden where we had 1 heater that didn't work so well and cost us a fair bit to run.

The Lounge room This is our main room and is where we spend most of our time when we're at home. As you can see there are more of those chairs I was talking about. The lounge is pretty crappy but I find it surprising comfortable. Out of shot is our table with the laptop on it and a couple of matching lounge chairs. Wendy and Luke stayed on our floor for several weeks and used the cushions as their bed An interesting observation is that Sadam is on the TV screen, this was accidental, perhaps he is hiding in the Casper room?

The Kitchen Its several times the size of our previous kitchen and the picture doesn't do it justice. We moved the filing cabinet in there to free up space in the lounge room. There is ample space in here for all our food and it contains a washing machine/dryer like most kitchens in England. It came with a toasted sandwich maker but it has unfortunately given up on is. The kitchen lacks 1 very important tool and that's a microwave. I'm doing it tough with out one considering my love of reheated leftovers so I think a purchase is on the cards.

Fridge Room I called it the Fridge room because that is its main purpose. It also contains the ironing gear, the electricity box, Donna's pram (push chair) and a couple of other bits and pieces (bits and bobs for the English). So back to the fridge, our original fridge was broke soon after we moved in and started to leak water. The freezer on it was so frozen that it didn't open and there was some kind of frozen vegetables in a bag hanging down from the back. I'm not sure if they were Craig's or not which is very scary. Luckily for us the vegies left with the old fridge and we got this shinny new one. I have my Homer Simpson magnets on it as well as some Simpson's magnets that came from my Coco pops (breakfast of champions). Donna loves the meter box because you put pound coins in it and turn a handle to make the meter go up. Its kind of like those machines outside of the newsagents without the little toy at the end. The door at the back goes to the Casper room. Its called this because Caroline (Craig's Girlfriend) left a note on it saying, you guested it "Casper's Room". You may notice that the post-it note is still on the door. The Casper room wasn't renovated like the rest of the flat. It has damp brick walls, no lights and an assortment of weird stuff on the floor. Possibly also contains the remains of some old English folk from medieval times. Donna doesn't like it.
