It is the only association dedicated to protecting the earned retirement benefits of federal employees, retirees and their survivors. NARFE's membership includes over 422,000 federal workers, retirees, spouses and survivors who are united in their goal of guaranteeing the economic security and well-being of active federal employees and those who have retired. Founded in 1921, NARFE is a major force on Capitol Hill and in state legislatures across the nation. NARFE is an effective and highly respected legislative voice for federal workers, retirees and their survivors. At the field level are 1,675 local chapters and 50 state federations, plus federations in the District of Columbia, Panama, the Philippines and Puerto Rico. In addition, there are 122 service centers staffed by NARFE volunteers to answer questions on health benefits, insurance annuities, and other issues. Members are kept up-to-date on federal, state and local legislative developments, judicial actions and regulatory changes through Retirement Life, NARFE's monthly magazine, as well as in chapter newsletters. |
