Simple Enchantments
Enchanment is a technique used widely among all sort of folk, including laymen.  Elements, spirits, and many other powers can be used to enchant an object. The choices will often dictate the more intricate details of the spell itself, but you really only need two things; an object and a spellcaster. The spellcaster doesn't nessicarily have to be particularly powerful, nor even someone who spends much time practicing magic at all. The spellcaster gathers as much magic as they wish and fills the object with it. Then he tells the object what it's to do. He doesn't need to work at an alter or draw a circle for this, as is considered custamary among many. Those who work with such things will do so to take advantage of the magic they are familiar with to increase the potencey of the enchantment. Likewise the object itself isn't particularly important, but choosing one that has symbolism may enhance the ability of the spellcaster to fill it well. Talismens, satchets, small trinkets and so forth are often enchanted and worn about the neck, often close to the skin. This is common for the purposes of proctection, and enhancing ones traits.

@}~ Love...

With a candle and a purpose one might sit themselves down in almost any spot, quiet, without observer or interruption and with time to spare. They place the candle in front of them and dote on thier true love. The purpose of doting being to gather not only the purpose of the candle but also the magic and love with which to fill it.Then, placing the candle upon thier naked breast, say any phrases, prose or poem, that fit well thier deepest intent. Be it to protect thier loved one, attract them, keep them forever or whatever have you. Then they'll burn this candle in a place where they can think about them until it is gone. In this way, as the magic is released from the candle while burning, it will have direction from them and they might add more magic as they watch it, if it is possible.

In order to make more potent the spell written on a scroll one may choose to enchant the scroll itself. If the reciever is a laymen, and without magic at all. They may then give purpose to a spell for which the enchanter has already readied magics. All the reader serves to do is begin the process by which those forces render the effect. I did just this once and often do crones at the street corner peddling herbs and potions get requests for enchanted things. Sometimes, if the witch isn't completely familiar with those involved, it's easier for her to write the spell and let the purchaser fill in whatever information the witch cannot.

An herbal satchel can be made up and enchanted. The herbs in question might be specific to the purpose of the spell. The herbs also may be added to the food or steeped into a tea and given to whomever the enchanter may wish to effect.
