What comes next is - largely - the result of my own study. It is meant to be a sort of reference for those who have recently begun to study or pratice magic. It is mostly herbology, elemental magic, some loose "sciences", gaelic lessons, a few notes on scrying, and other things that most witches, wizards, or other practitioners of magic would consider rather "wholesome". That is not to say that things can't turn sour in a way. The information on the following pages is, of course, subjective and highly debatable. Not only is it subjective in that most folk have varying beliefs on the subject (or none at all!) but different folk have different use for such informantion, and those folk may not be of the best intent. Thus, this information may come to harm someone in some way, shape or form. This is not at all my intent. If it is yours, I will not try to school you in ethics; there are plenty of spiritual leaders, teachers, authority figures, family members, and pshyco-therapists who could do a much better job - in person. So, use this information as you wish, but beware such pitfalls and drawbacks as may be noted with it.
A Word from the Author To His Audience
A Note on Spelling of the Word Magic and a Few Other "PC" Things...
As the texts and sketches to come are meant for amatuers, beginners and those just interested, I've taken the liberty to write them out as if they were excerpts from Nardol's "Book of Shadows" or manuscript This is largly for the reader's delight, to enhance a feeling of quaintness that would surround what might otherwise be rather dull and bland, almost scientific reading. So, all references to "magic", are to the uncommon kind. The common kind Nardol would refer to as 'slieght of hand'. In this he would be rather gifted, it must be said, as he has nimble fingers and a charming way; but I digress. It is always such because to him there would be no "magicians" or "magic shows" as there are today. He also refers to other things in thier old names and spellings, in a way that may bother many witches, wiccans, etc. This is because he is conservative and rather no-nonsense in a way that refuses to be caught up in the hub-bub of petty conflicts like "magic" vs "magick". It is reality and your perception, that matters. So should you scoff at some odd spelling or usage, remember it's for literature's sake.
That Being Said:
Yes, you will find specific spells here. No, they might not work for you. The reason Nardol keeps record of spells, incantations, and so, is not only that he can repeat them, but that he can judge what did and did not work, and so that he can compare them and gauge his own progress and power. The same spells might not work for you, but can lead you in a direction you wouldn't have come upon youself. Such things are also of immense interest to the "just interested" catagory of readers, and this is after all, a page I set up for the pleasure, interest and benefit of amatuers beginners and those "just interested". Also you will find many things you mightn't think you'd find. Nardol is interested greatly in languages, especially gaelic, which are nessicary to read many old and acient texts he collects and translates. He is also interested in history, which is greatly entwined in everything, magical and otherwise. So you may well find notes on the history of various groups of folk. This sort of thing, while not magical itself, is very useful and can often help us all.
