Pulsed Plasma Thrusters
The pulsed plasma thrusters are another somewhat different type of electromagnetic propulsion. These have already been developed. Some of the military organizations use them on satellites. They work by ablating and ionizing materials from a fuel bar usually made of Chlorofluorocarbon with an electric charge. The resulting stream is sent through a capacitor where positive ions are accelerated through to plate electrodes and sent in the form of a beam out of the craft. This produces a thrust of a couple hundred Newtons. This pulse cycle is then charged and repeated when necessary.
