The effect of the Hydrogen Bomb on the World
So the hydrogen bomb has been discovered, and now most countries carry them in their nuclear arsenals. So what? So, if a third world war broke out, if any war involving the hydrogen bomb broke out for that matter, the survival of the human race is in deadly peril. If one hydrogen bomb goes off, more are bound to follow, and since one hydrogen bomb can be 1000 times stronger than an atom bomb, millions are sure to die. The radiation effect will be felt world wide, killing people, organic life, and infecting food supplies. So we must hope and pray that the day when the awesome power of the hydrogen bomb is utilized never comes. We have not yet found a way to the mighty power of the reaction used in a hydrogen bomb for energy purposes but needless to say when we do, due to the endless possibility of the reaction, it will provide an unfathomable amount of raw energy.

As you can see a thermonuclear reaction has massive repercussions. The hypocenter of the blast, or ground zero, is usually just one big crater, everything inside had been vaporized from the up to 500 million degrees F temperature. This heat radiates outward starting fires that then become self sustained. People who look at the blast get what is called flash blindness, sometimes never being able to see again. If a nuclear bomb can send over 10,000 victims to the hospital for extreme burns, were not even talking about radiation or anything else, image what a hydrogen bomb would do. Beside the heat a massive shockwave also is pushed outward from the blast. But possibly the worst effect and killer of most people is the radioactive fallout, it falls as a fine layer of dust over everything near the bomb. Wind carries the radiation outward, spreading it. When it enters the water supply, or is inhaled by people, it cause sever reactions. Radiation causes nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, cataracts, hair loss, and loss of bloods cells, which lead to leukemia, cancer, infertility, and birth defects. Radiation literally causes cells to divide, breaking them apart. It is extremely dangerous, making these bomb such utter weapons of genius and horror.
