ALIGNMENT: Wisconsin Teacher Standard Alignment This experience best aligns with Wisconsin Teacher Licensure Standard #1: Teachers know the subjects they are teaching. This experience demonstrates my ability to engage students in generating knowledge across all core subject areas. Furthermore, it shows my ability to develop and use curriculum that encourages students to see, question, and interpret ideas from diverse perspectives. During this experience, I also tried to integrate subjects, such as math and science in order to make subject matter more meaningful for my students. Also aligns with Wisconsin Standard for Teacher Development and Licensure WSTDL #4 Teachers know how to teach. WSTDL #7 Teachers are able to plan different kinds of lessons. UW-Platteville School of Education Knowledge, Skill, & Disposition Statement Alignment This experience best aligns with KS3.c. Engages Students in Learning. This experience shows my ability to engage students in the learning process. I did this by linking appropriate content to suitable instructional materials. In order to make sure I use appropriate content design, I use resources such as the internet, library, and other teachers. Lastly, I evaluated my pace for student learning by checking with my cooperating teachers and other team members. Also aligns with Knowledge, Skill, & Disposition Standards KSD1.a. Demonstrates Knowledge of Content and Pedagogy KSD1.e. Designs Coherent Instruction REFLECTION My student teaching experience in the fifth grade has taught me how to teach all disciplinary subjects and concepts. I have learned to make every learning opportunity an experience for my students by capturing key ideas and linking them to my students prior knowledge. I have also learned that the more knowledge I have on the subject matter I teach, the better I can teach that subject to my students. As a prospective educator, I must continue to learn more about the subject matter I teach. There is always knew ideas and concepts to learn in each subject; thus, I must remember to think about the different students I will have and the best way to meet their needs in learning these core subject areas. |
