Almighty God - The Supreme Being

Who is God?

No one even dares to say a word, as He cannot be explained in words. He is the Supreme Being. The One and the only. No one in this world is having enough words to explain Him and to sing His praise. Human life is like a drop of water from sea. No one can understand Him, as He is so big. No pen can write His praise and paper of the whole world is not enough to write about Him and His deeds. The only thing that can be said is "Endless, Endless, Endless &…" and still this is not sufficient to say.

(Japji Sahib – Pouri 12)

God is One and is for All. He is the Creator of all. And is the Creator of mankind. He created Universe, and many Solar Systems. He created Suns, Planets, Water, Wind, Fire, Land, Life etc. etc… He is the Father of all. The first thing He made is Love, Peace and Prosperity.

God had a dream. He wanted to give shape to His beautiful dream. The dream in which He had seen His Kingdom where everyone lives happily with love and peace and all Suns, Stars, Planets and all other heavenly bodies singing Hymns praising Him in His love.

He planned everything and then started implementing His dream work. There was a huge blank space and there was nothing anywhere. Certainly there was a huge sound. This was the name of God.

"God is one. His name is True. He is the one behind all happenings. He is the one Without Fear. He is the one Without Enemies. He is the one without Shape. He is the one who is not the part of Life Cycle. He created Himself. He is the Teacher. And is the Result of all."

Three Questions that comes to the mind:

There was a King who was very religious but he was not sure if God exists or not. He made an announcement in his entire Kingdom anyone who can answer his three questions, he will give him a good rewards. Once, a saint in a very bad condition came in his kingdom and he wa just praising lord and when he was asked why he is not taking the name of King of the empire, he answered, My King is the King of the Kings so I don't care about your king. He said My King is the Master of all and even feed your King. So, why should I take his name. I praise my Lord and He takes care of me.

The soldiers start beating him up and took him the courts of the king. They complained the king and told the kiing about the whole thing. King asked if you can answer my Three Question I will give you rewards or else you will be killed. To this saint replied, One day all have to die, you and me and all. I am not scared of death as that is natural. But my duty is to spread the word of God, so I am ready to answer all your questions. Ask -

King asked him three questions to which he said I will answer them one by one so ask them slowly.

What was there before GOD?

Where God Lives?

What He does?

Answers:

Get some pearls in a tray. King thought that the saint is very greedy. He never even answered the questions yet and is looking for a reward in form of Pearls. Anyways, he ordered his men to get pearls in a tray and present them to saint. On getting the tray of pearls, saint gave it to king and asked him to count them. To this all were shocked.

Anyways, the king started counting...1,2,3,4,5,6.. and the saint interuppted him there. Sir, you missed something, please start it again. King replied, I just reached upto 6 and I think you don't know the counting anyways, for your satisfaction, I start it again, now interupt me where I will make a mistake and the king started again.................1.

and the saint interuptted again. King was shocked and asked now what happened. Saint replied, that is where you are making the mistake. I said start it from the beginning. King said, I know you don't know the counting and you are mad, I started it from 1. Saint said, stat it before 1. King said, there is nothing before one, counting starts from 1.

Saint smiled and answered; There is nothing before God, the whole thing started with HIM.

King got a nice answer and was satisfied with it.

Now Saint asked for some milk in pot. King thought he is travelling and his men beaten him up and no one even asked him a glass of water and he must be hungry. He ordered his men to get Saint some milk in pot.

Saint got a pot of milk. Saint started looking into it very carefully as if there is something in it. King said, accept it, its a fresh milk. Saint replied, there is something in it. King asked what? Saint replied, There is Buttur, Fat, Ghee in the milk. King answered nicely, yes there is. Saint asked aggresivelly, where, I can't see it? King replied, its in there we can't see as these things are suspended in the milk.

Saint replied, Similarly God is suspended in His creation. He is everywhere in everything and we can't see HIM.

King got the answer to his second question.

Then King asked his third question; What He Does? (God)

Saint said, these are very big questions and you are asking for bundle of inexpensive knowledge. You are sitting on the chair of King and I am standing lower to you. Is it fair with the knowledge. Let me sit in your place and you stand in mine and I will answer your third question.

King agreed as he thought bundle of knowledge what he is getting is worth it. He said, OK till the time you answer my question, you can sit here and he gave saint his seat.

Saint on grabbing the seat of King. Sat there quietly and started meditating. King kept looking on his face and just awaited for the answer. After few minutes when he saw that the saint is sitting quietly and not answering, he asked the saint calmly, I am waiting for the answer please.

Saint opened his eyes and smiled. He then asked king, didn't you got the answer king. He said, this is what God do. He makes knowledgeable Rich and give him honour and degrace the wicked.

King was satisfied with all the answers saint gave him and waas happy to have the answers he wanted. He made the saint the priest of his court and gave him all his respect.

Guru Gobind Singh ji (Akal Ustat)

God in Guru Nanak Dev ji’s perception

God is an immutable spirit enveloping all that is perceptible (Tun Sabhan Mahi Ravanta), manifests Himself as an absolute Truth (Satnam) and is felt in the service of His creatures (Aaisa koi das hoe, taheen milai bhagwan).

An immutable spirit non-changing, all in all the same individual spirits (Puran Jyot Jage Gate Mehen). Nothing is ultra to His perception. The ray of the sun is on both sides of a glass and yet is the same continuous thread.

Surely, that immutable spirit is capable of penetration through and through, without breaking and without division. There is no boundary, time and space (Akal Moorat), No Change, this or that side – right or left, nothing above or below. Metaphysician may call it ‘Parmatama’ or naturalist may name it an author of everything, but it is all in all undisturbed intelligent spirit (Sarab Nirantar) which envelops all that is conceivable as inconceivable to human mind. Only an envelopment (Sarab Nivasi Sade Alepa) not part and parcel – it is non-material, pervades whether seen or unseen – in and our (Antar Bahir Purukh Naranjan).

God in Guru Gobind Singh ji’s perception

The Absolute to be a being above everything of His creation. He cannot be seen or comprehended. He never takes birth, which opposes the theory on incarnation and idol worship. He has no relation of son-ship or fatherhood with any particular being. All are His sons equally inheriting their divine patrimony.

"When He has no father, no mother, no caste, no son, no grandson, and is bestower of salvation, why should He be called the son of Dewaki."

(Tilang Kefi by Tenth Guru)

God Himself is the creator, Himself the preserver and destroyer. He is invisible. He has no form, no birth, and no attachment and is wonderfully mysterious. He cannot be set up in any human form or likeness. He creates the universe and sustains everyone though some one is theistic or atheistic. He is immeasurable and a great and source of all goodness. As the Absolute has no form, therefore, He is without lust, anger, greed and attachment. He is above sorrow and sickness.

"He is all loving yet without sensuous attachment, He gives to all whether wise or ignorant, He gives to Earth, He gives to Heavens."

(By the grace Swaayyas – 5)

It is impossible to know the unfathomable, External, Absolute fully, because He is immaterial and unconstitutional. He cannot be perceived with the senses yet be sites, ceremonies, deeds and creeds. He is above formalities, ritualism and materialism. Though His manifestations are manifold in all direction, yet He is not confined to any particular direction, place and mode of worship.

"What use, if one shutting both eyes sits-down meditating like a crane or bathes in seven seas. I tell you truly hear yea all those above who practice love shall find the Lord."

(Swaayyas of Tenth Guru)

He is efficient as well as material cause of the universe. He is one, but pervades all that it manifests. He is the cause of causes, the life of all that lives and the seed of all that grow, destroyer and preserver of all Thou art the quintessence of all things.

"Thou art nameless and above desire, Thy abode is invisible, Thou art one yet appearest manifold, thou has Countless forms, Having played the immutable play. Thou remainest one and alone in the end.

(Jaap81)

Guru Gobind Singh ji’s Lord is true and merciful counted as sovereign of sovereign Lord of three worlds, Gods, men and demons declare beyond all things, who can describe all thy names. The wise recount only such of the attributes as are revealed by His works.

"Maanas Ki Jaat Sabhe, Ek Hai Pehchaan Woh."

(Guru Gobind Singh ji)
