| George Street and John Binmore have been working on rules for playing Napoleonic Strategic wargames for a number of years. Our first game at Colours in 2004 'Waterloo 1815' was fought on a very simple 3' x 4' map with 6mm Adler figures. The following year we ran our ambiitous '1805 Danube Campaign' with a 14' x 5' hex-map, covering 100 miles from Strasburg to Vienna; this game covered the Battle of Ulm, Russian retreat, commulating in the Battle of Austerlitz. In 2006, we ran our first "French Invasion of England 1806" game, using paper maps. As a complete "labour of love", George spent the Summer of 2009, re-creating the Invasion map with fully-contoured and flocked map-boards. Our new "Invasion of England" game was given its first outing at 'Colours 2009'; this year, we ran it as a full-participation game with each player commanding a French corps. At the start of each game-day, the players made a committee decision as to the objective of each corps. The British were very much reactive, run on auto-orders by the Umpire. Full details of our rules will be posted here by October 2009. |
