Gymnogeophagus labiatus spawning pair

Gymnogeophagus labiatus

Distribution: Northeastern Uruguay and Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil.

Size: 6-7 inches

Comments: Wild fish are easily distinguished from G. gymnogenys by their hypertrophied lips. While both species are found in the same streams and rivers, labiatus occupies rocky, fast flowing sections while gymnogenys prefers sandy zones.
