How Do i Make Mp3?
Creating your own MP3 music library is easy!

Let's Rip!
Rip = Converting the Audio CDs Track into MP3 Files in your PC

1.Select your MP3 encoder (we like the MusicMatch Jukebox the most) as your CD audio player.

2.Get on the web and insert your audio CD. If your CD does not contain track names and times, MusicMatch Jukebox will connect to the CDDB database and search for your CD. When it finds a match, it will display your CD info on the recorder module.

3.Select the track you would like to rip from the CD and press Start on the recorder.

4.Depending on how fast your PC works, the ripped track will soon be compressed into MP3 format and saved to the designated folder (using the library module).

You can select your favorite tracks and write them to a C-DR or CD-RW disc. If you don't have a CD-RW drive, add it to your "must buy" list. Or, ask a friend who has one. After you create your CD, you can enjoy your music collection on the go.

How can I get my Napa player to detect all of my songs ?

For better compatibility, we recommend burning your CDs with using the ISO9660 format at Mode 1. In Adaptec Easy-CD Creator, you can do this using the following steps:

1) Right-click on the CD you are about to record and choose Properties.
2) Click on the "Data Settings" tab.
3) At the top of the Data Settings will be an area labeled "File System". Change this to ISO9660 if it isn't already.
4) Next, click the "Properties" button.
5) At the bottom of this window will be "Mode 1: CDROM" and "Mode 2: CDROM-XA" Click the "Mode 1: CDROM" if it is not already selected.
6) Click "OK" and then "OK" again to return to the CD creation screen.

NOTE: The ISO9660 format does not allow long filename support, so any long filenames on the CD will be shortened to 8 characters.

What is the difference between the Napa DAV310 and any other MP3 player?
The difference is that, with Napa DAV310, you can store and listen to MP3 files on a CD, while with a traditional MP3 player requires you to download files into the unit's flash memory. This means that, with the Napa DAV310, you can listen to MP3 files, regular audio CD's & the VCDs Video CDs, CD-R's, and CDRW's without ever having to erase or copy over your favorite MP3 files like traditional MP3 players.

Since the Napa DAV310 has a much larger capacity than a flash memory player, lower compression rates can be used, giving you higher quality audio playback. Flash memory players sacrifice playback quality so that you can fit more music in the player's memory.

Does it matter how MP3 files are stored on the Napa DAV310 CD's?
You can store your MP3 files in any way that you like. However, the Napa DAV310 will play these files in the order they are stored on the CD. (If you choose Random play, the Napa DAV310 will select random tracks from the entire CD.) Any format CD (Microsoft Joilet, Romeo, Macintosh formats, ISO 9660, etc.) is supported by the Napa DAV310, as long as the CD contains MP3 files.

The Napa DAV310 supports file reading from subdirectories, meaning that you do not have to write all your MP3 files to the root directory of your CD.

When the Napa DAV310 encounters a non-MP3 file on my CD, what will happen?
The Napa DAV310 will easily skip over any non-MP3 files that it encounters.

What type of audio CD's can I play with my Napa DAV310?
Napa DAV310 uses breakthrough technology of the Durable Laser Reader (DLR) decoder to read/play from CD-R discs, CD-RW discs, or original audio discs. It also supports Sub-Directory Readable(SDR) technology which accepts MP3 music in sub-directory and long-file names.

How many songs can I fit onto one CD, using the MP3 format?
Approximately 177 songs can fit onto one CD using the MP3 format, (based on an average song length of 3 minutes).

How resistant is the Napa DAV310 to skipping?
The Napa DAV310 uses a device called the Electronic Shock Absorption(ESA) system, which is rated the best among other Anti-Shock devices in its class. The Napa DAV310 spins the dsc faster than normal, while a digital memory buffer stores the extra audio data generated. So, when a sudden shock causes a tracking error, the system plays back music from memory (up to 30 seconds) until correct tracking resumes.

Can I use the Napa DAV310 in my car?
Sure you Can :) Yes. With a car kit, you can plug in your Napa DAV310, grab the remote and enjoy your favorite music in your vehicle any time you want. In addition, with the amount of songs you're able to fit on one CD, the Napa DAV310 practically eliminates the necessity and hassles of a CD-changer.

Is the Napa DAV310 easy to use?
Yes. Napa DAV310 slim, lightweight and compact design makes it unobtrusive during sporting activities. Operating buttons are laid out so they're easy to find by touch. The large Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) readout display alerts users to the status of all important functions, such as playback mode, track number and elapsed time of the track or disc, at a glance. Users can program disc playback options before their activities, then just let the music roll. Or, they can choose Random Play, Repeat Play(track, preset program or disc); and Resume Play for preference.

What type of power source does the Napa DAV310 use?
The Napa DAV310 use 1400 mAh Li-Ion rechargeable batteries or an AC adapter. It can also be powered by a car kits power connection which plugs into the vehicles lighter.

What is MP3 and how does it work?
MP3= MPEG-1 Audio Layer-3

MPEG=Motion Pictures Experts Group

MPEG-1 Audio Layer-3 is a standard technology and format for compressing a sound sequence into a very small file (about one-twelfth the size of the original file) while preserving the original level of sound quality when it is played. In other words, MP3 shrinks audio files in a way that the quality is preserved, but the file is smaller than it would be as a regular CD song file.

Is MP3 legal?

Yes. MP3 is simply a file format that can be used legally or illegally. Using an MP3 is legal if the song's copyright holder has granted permission to download and play the song. It is also legal (in most countries) to make copies from CD for personal use. However, it is illegal to encode MP3's from CD and trade them without permission from the copyright holder.
