Introduction

Excel is potentially a powerful tool. It has a variety of built-in functionalities that many people may regard as irrelevant. One of such functionality is data analysis. No Ph.D. student may consider writing his/her dissertation based on the data analysis performed by Excel. However, if you are a firm believer of linear regression and think no more sophisticated econometric models are unnecessary, then Excel may be the tool of your choice. Most people exchange their data sets in .xls format, and if simple regressions are all you need, then it is convenient to run regressions with Excel. Without further ado, I will describe how to perform a simple regression with Excel in this short passage.
