SPAIN

This statue is in the "Parc Joan Miro and is called : 'Donna i ocell' (woman with bird).
Barcelona is a city rich in the arts. There are many great sites and museums in Barcelona. We decided to take a tourist bus to see all the major attractions. It was a great idea because all the attractions are spread throughout in different areas of the city. We were allowed to get off the bus at designated sites when and where we wanted. We packed in all the major attractions in about 3-4 days. Highlights and pictures include: Gaudi Park, many, many of Gaudi's buildings, Olympic Park, Picasso museum,Miro museum, and the Sagrada Familia. We had a great time!

The art work in Spain was the best I've ever seen. Here in the center you can see the greatest import of art in recent years.
It is called NanOkLu by a fairly young artist from America.

As you can see this statue has lots of replicas in the most obscure positions. This one is called 'Orange thief'.

This is one of Gaudi's first buildings. It is called ' Casa Amatller' 1900.

People actually live in this artwork from Gaudi. Tourists can visit the top of building. Of course we did not go b/c it was too touristy.
This one is called 'Casa Mila (Le Pedrera)'. around 1920

This was the view from our Hotel out on the ' Palau Guell' 1889. building accross the street. It is very close to the "Les Rambles" better know under "La Ramble".

This one is called 'Font Magica'. It was build for the international exhibition in 1929.

And here you can see a typical piece of art where you can't remember who built or what it was used for.
Since it was in the 'Vila Olimpica'. one could think it was the swimming pool. Well maybe. I forgot though!

Nagadagadag. Some more art ... Look, I am much nicer !!!

'Torre Calatrava'. Build by the architect Calatrava in 1992. Ths telecommunications pole can also be used as a sun clock with the correct time displayed in the upper semi-torus.

This was in 'Park Guell'. Actually it was under it. I'd say a nice space that no one needs and no one can use for anything. But that's just me. You got to ask Gaudi why he did what he did.

And this here is a meeting of different art periods. The new 'NanOkLu' wrapped in a contrastfull red coat meets the beast from Gaudi in 'Park Guell'.

You don't know what you see here ... Well the person in the center is the important thing in this picture from the ' Park Guell'.

This is the 'Catedral' built between 1298 and 1450.

The following pictures should not need any introduction. This is one of Barcelona's most impoirtant attractions and ' La Sagrada Familia'. This piece of architecture is in building stage for over 100 years now.

After Gaudi's death (he was killed by a tram that ran over him) it has been dormant for some time and has been badly hit in the Spanish civil war.

A lot of Gaudi's original drawings and models have been lost forever.

But hey, I saw it :) it is cool !!!

Best of all, you can go up and look down.

Check out Barcelona in the background.
