A game played on a Narborough track certainly not lacking a LOT of moisture, as the two buckets of sawdust needed soon revealed. Milburn lost the toss so that Neil and Andy could best enjoy the variety that the conditions could throw at them. Mr Young being back in the hutch before the first over was out, Leaving Mr Key and the Andy to best interpret a variety of medium/slow bowling that continued to pop/shoot with satisfying consistency. A brief period of action saw Mr Key removed and Bush still in bat and looking good. Kiwi Carl then showed and explosive over to the new pie spinner shorly before dollying a fairy drive to mid-on, this seemed to set the rate for the remiander of batesmen - Hall / Whitmore / Young(S) all issued destructive messages to the fielding side before quickly losing the plot. Bush continued to look good until ran out in a bizzare 'wandering out of crease for unlikely 2nd' incident for a tasty 70+. The excitement was still not over as the last wicket partnership of Will 'Filth' Byland & Mick 'BAGOSHITE' Turner showed that Will was quite happy slapping the opposition to all end of the park, while Mick was quite happy to secure a single - to be greeted by a cheer from the crowd. Narborough Finishing 212-9 of 40 overs.
Narborough commenced their bowling spell by making quick use of the additional 2001 ECB Sunday Fielding positions - quite suited for damp conditions, these being 'Slashy Cut' and 'Slashy Drive' as shown to the left. Opening up the Victoria Road batting order with 3 wickets in the first 5 overs Armitage & Hall were quickly sidelined for bowlers more suited to the conditions. Filth proved accurate & effective before lapsing towards the end of his spell but of note producing a stumping from Shaun Young back briefly with the golden gloves. M Turner and R Key proved ineffective in the conditions so an unlikely strike force combination were summonded to end the innings.
Eddiington & Bray New Bowling Partnership While Eddington challenged the batesmen to actually see or play the ball (And Neil to take the ball cleanly) the Brayster started a destructive spell removing two wickets in the same amount of overs (first wicket middle stump yorker). Rich celebrated both wickets with a fantastic 'Elvis' Flourish which really finshed the whole thing off nicely.
All in all another comprehensive win - and a thumbs up from the Skip - Unbeated in 2 years..........
