2nd XI Vs Illston Abbey 30.6.2001

Ilston Abbey Set 217 ish for 8 against a steady narborough attack which had far to many holes in the field to help the bowlers or acccurate in throws to help Matt behind the stumps.

Collecting wickets of note S Hall (4) and B Childs (2 or 3).

Narborough set of of a steady start fullfilling the first part of the old A Hall moto, "30 of 10 wickets in the shed..." however we failed to match the next part "100 of 30 no loss" as Andy and Tony's wickets fell after doing the hard work.

Mr Fine Wines was then caught unluckily low and wide from a flick of the hips, leaving S Hall and
N Young to do some damage. After some dangerous momentum was achieved and the fielding side became very quiet S Hall fell to the wide full-toss/beamer from a be-turbanded pie spinner.
N Young followed shortly after with yet another low diving catch behind square, the third umpire was called but claude was getting a packet of crisps at the time so Neil sportsmanly walked.
New Chap J Pochin followed shortly after after a correct but shaky innings fell stumped to turban pie spinner.

This leaving 130 ish for 6 with the Brayster and Crazy to form a unelegent yet effective crowd pleasing
partnership of 48 to leave the innings closed at 186-6.
