MY LOVE FOR ANIMALS
My love for animals started when I was very young. I always had dogs, cats and rabbits. I started riding horses when I was 4 years old. A family down the street had horses and ponies and they used to do rides and I was always there.
As I got a little older, my neighbors started asking me to take care of their animals when they would go away on vacation. I loved doing this and I learned a lot about dogs temperaments from working with so many different types.
When I was 19 I started working on the racetrack walking horses and then I went to Florida the following year to work on a horse farm. On this farm, I learned to teach thoroughbred racehorses, from getting them used to a saddle, riding them and getting them ready to go to the racetrack. I also learned how to breed horses and work with all the babies. This was a wonderful life and I hated coming back up north the following year, but then I got to exercise the horses at the racetrack and get them ready for their races. It was wonderful starting with a horse on the farm when they had never had anyone on their back all the way to watching them run in a race and win.
I did this work for 11 years and then got married and left the racetrack. I went to work at a CPA firm doing administrative work and stayed there for 18 years. In 2003, I got laid off from my job and decided to start a business doing something I love to do, take care of animals. I started my Dog Walking and Pet Sitting business in June of 2003, and I love it. I get to work with all different breeds of dogs and cats. I have two 1 year old Chocolate Labs myself, (Rylee and Logan) and 2 cats ( Hampton and Harley which I adopted). I got both of my dogs from Integrity Farm Kennel, which I work at part time keeping the kennels clean and getting the dogs ready for dog shows. I really enjoy working with them and feel I am always learning new things.
I take care of animals in both your home and mine. I will take a dog to my house as long as he gets along with my 2 dogs and is housebroken. If he/she is a puppy they must be crate trained. I have had many dogs here so far with no problems. I have a fenced yard for them to play and when in the house they have the downstairs to stay in. When I am not home or gone to bed for the night, the dogs are restricted to the kitchen or their crates. I have really enjoyed doing this and my regular customers say their dogs get all excited when they pull up to my house. I think having a home environment for the dogs makes it a little easier for them in not missing their family as much.
When I go to your home, I spend about a hour with the animal just playing and talking and taking them out to do their duty. I also offer to walk your dog while I am pet sitting for an additional fee.
The dogs that I walk during the week are great. I have some that I walk every day, and others a few days a week. I get my exercise and they get theirs. I have had many of the same dogs since I started my business and it is a wonderful feeling knowing that their owners do not have to worry about the dogs getting their exercise.
Now that you know about my history with animals, I hope that you will feel confident in choosing my services for your precious animals. They are truly a part of the family as they should be.
