Verona arena - Notice two walls.  The elliptical 160 x 394 foot amphitheater is the 3rd largest in the Roman world.  Built in the 1st century A.D. with pink marble, crowds of up to 25,000 have cheered Roman gladiator battles, medieval executions, and modern plays.  

Piazza dei Signori with a statue of Dante.  Behind Dante is the yellowish, 15th century Venetian Renaissance style Portico of the Counsel.
