Day 3 - Tues. December 30 2003 Woke up around 6 am to get showered and eat breakfast at the hotel before starting our day. Yep...the first of MANY early mornings. Then we headed off to a local high school to practice our half time show on a football field so we'd be ready for the field show competition. Practice wasn't bad. I must admit it was really cool doing our show amidst palm trees as opposed to the scatterings of snow we're become so accustomed to up here. We also got a breif glimpse of the other 25 or so bands that were our competition and also joining us for the Gatorbowl. We then headed over to Jackonville Landing, a local shopping mall where we grabbed some lunch and shopped around. Brian discovered a 'Grab a Lobster' game...it was just like those games with the claw where you try to grab a stuffed animal...only this one had real lobsters! And if you got one, the bar next to it would cook it for you. CRAZY!! Then Megan, Robyn and I had a long talk with Mike, our drill instructor about band and lots of other things. I gained so much respect for him. I used to hate him so much during band camp, since he seemed so mean. But he's really a great guy...he just had to be mean in the beginning to gain respect, which makes sense. Then Megan, Robyn and I shopped around and got some pretty jewlery for the Gala dance on New Year's, and Megan bought some bling bling as well. Lol. Nick bought a Hooters shirt whish was really tight...and also a shirt that said "Grandpa's Sidekick" which was made for 18 month olds. Yea...it was quite small. But it was really hillarious. Brian bought a GIANT orange gun thingie that shot air 20 feet. Had some fun with that on the bus..... Then we headed off to another local high school to compete in the Field Show Competition for the Gatorbowl. The winner of all the bands would get to perform their show before the Gatorbowl, which would be really exciting, so we were hoping to do really well. We competed well, and I think we did awesome!! Megan apparently fell in the middle of the show, but I stand next to her, and didnt notice. But she claims that I'm so short that I was able to cover her...LOL. So after we ate some dinner by the busses we watched the other bands compete. This one band from Marist High school had bench warmers...it was hillarious! Then we finally headed off to our hotel and went to bed after a looong day. |
