| I was born a "Yankee" and Jerry was born a "Rebel". It's amazing we've married. This statement was especially true when we were deciding on baby names. His first choices were Venus Angel and Robert E. Lee. Needless to say, they were not on my list of names. My grandfather was not impressed when he heard of Jerry's choice for a boys name. It didn't take him long to put a picture of his father, wearing his Civil War uniform, out where Jerry was sure to see it. Our g-grandfathers were both in the Civil War.....just not on the same side. We have a daughter.....her name is Patricia. |
| In 1990 we celebrated my parents 50th wedding anniversary. Family arrived from near and far. It was a time to reconnect with relatives we had not seen for many years as well as an opportunity to meet others for the first time. This is when I started wondering about my family history. I had the names and information on my parents and grandparents as well as some rather sketchy information on my great-grandparents. I wished I had paid attention to my grandfather as I vaguely remembered him talking about someone coming to this country from Ireland. I also heard stories about our family being related to Hannah Dustin, the famous New England heroine who was captured by Indians and escaped after scalping them. With this little bit of information I started searching for my ancestors. As I started researching and compiling information it became clear that somewhere along the way I had been bitten by the "genealogy bug". I don't know when or where it happened but it did happen. My family will be the first to tell you.....there is no known cure once you are bitten by that genealogy bug. Below are some of the families I have been researching. Please be aware, this is information only as I have not verified everything. I do have documentation for some of the data but not all of it. Please do not assume that what I have listed is completely accurate. If you find errors please let me know so I can correct the information. |
