Chinchilla Prayer
Two Little Orphans
Two little babies I've tucked away for the night,
Rolled in a blanket, they think hidden from sight.
Two bums and two tails protrude to the light,
Soft balls of fluff is our secret delight.

The heating pad I turned down low,
Poor little tykes how were they to know;
Their mother demised and left the three.
My husband so generously handed to me.

I heated some canned milk, I think was too strong;
Two are still living the other one's gone.
Warm soya bean oil I don't think was wrong,
The two were hunched up so mighty long.

Warm our milk, get on with the job,
When I opend the door it's like a bargain sale mob.
Across the counter and into the sink,
I lunge to retrieve the two little stinks.

They grab the bottle, one leg cocked high;
Slurping and burping, then heave a big sigh,
They close one eye I'm about to die
I think my Chinchillas are winking at I!

              EMR
Now I lay me down to sleep
Diseased pellets at my feet
If I should die before I awake
You'll know I died of a  belly ache.
