When Peaches Are Ripe

trashy hk cat 3 flicks like these never fail to amuse me becoz sex will
occur at every possible (and most often, the most ridiculous) circumstance.
characters are always over-the-top caricatures and wildly exaggerated.
storylines are often wafer thin, and in some cases, kept to a barely-there
minimum. after all, how many of its targeted audience will bother abt the
storyline?

however, when peaches are ripe featured a vaguely interesting premise.
peach is an 8 year old girl who had been curious abt the birds and bees.
being inquisitive had not been helpful as her family swept the topic under
the carpet, and her frens were as unknowlegable as her. wishing she were an
adult so that she can learn more abt it, she made the wish at a wishing tree
one night and the wish came true the next morning.
horrified yet excited, she went on to lead the life of an 18 year old and
became friends, and then lovers, with her swimming coach, danny. danny's
jealous ex, baby, schemes to break up the pair and succeeds in misleading
peach to believe danny to be a frivilous man. a heartbroken peach made a
second wish at the wishing tree to revert back to her own 8 year old self.
the tree granted her the wish and it was only after that she realised baby's
trick. but there is nothing she can do: the tree had been burnt down by a
fire.

the cast turned in a reasonably engaging (ahem!) performance, esp the
animated parents, xu jing jiang and yuan qiong dan. the teacher in heat and
the policewoman scenes were also quite funny. but i was unhappy with the
cast list boasting shu qi as a first leading actress: she did nothing more
than appearing in the introduction and epilouge scenes as the narrator.
fraud alert!
zhong zhen and the actor who played danny were ok, but my favourite was the
actress who played peach's sister, because she reminds me of hsuan hsuan in
some angles.

i can't deny that the flick is trashy, but if u are the sort who likes a
(somewhat) decent storyline in your porn, then this might be your cup of
tea.
