Nana's Poetry
They are penniless...vagabonds
From somewhere far away
They talk like foreigners...look like foreigners
Act that "foreigner" way.

She's riding on a donkey
Don't you think that's rather dumb?
She suffers in silence...she doesn't complain
Though her legs are growing numb

Her belly is stretched..taut with child
They want a place to sleep
He pleads at doors...slammed in his face
They've no money for their keep.

The child she carries...is not his
For this sin...she should be stoned
But see how gently...he cares for her
He claims them both...his own.

They find shelter in a stable
And sometime through the night
While all is still...and people sleep
The sky is filled with light.

And God creates a miracle
That will echo...on and on
In mortal coil...for all of us
God gives His Only Son

To present time...we cherish Him
And give Thanks when we pray
But I wonder...If they knocked your door
Would you welcome them...today?

Would You Welcome Them, Today?
Poems Written By Me
Elusive Ancestor of Mine
You trickle down through time
Unknown, unseen, unheard
And float on pools of bottomless depth
Or whisper from a word

You hide in fathomless void
No hint, no clue, no sign
That you were ever on this earth
Elusive ancestor of mine

Your blood runs through my veins
I sense, I feel, I know
That somewhere I'll find part of you
That leads where I must go

          Where were you born?
          Where did you live?
          What's your mother's maiden name?
          What did you do?
          Who did you know?
What is your claim to fame?

In shrouds of mystery you hide
Didn't read, didn't write, didn't know
That I would be here seeking you
Long after you would go

I feel you at my shoulder
Wish you could show a sign
To lead the steps that I must take
On this endless quest of mine

Like wisps of smoke you flee
What town, what shire, what land
Holds the secret that was you
In it's tight fisted hand?

I'll find you...this I promise
No clue, no stone unturned
And hope that when we finally meet
You'll be proud of what I learned

Stand Tall
Stand tall...tall as the towers
Stand proud...proud of our land
Stand firm...and be determined
To stand...stand tall

Why do you fight us?
What have we done?
We offer you friendship
To stand with you as one
You claim your religion
Dictates we must fall
Well friend I must tell you
To a man...We will all..

Stand tall...tall as the towers
Stand proud...proud of our land
Stand firm...and be determined
To stand...stand tall

We are not beaten
We shall be healed
Those lost..we'll remember
Their crosses we will wield
And show all those like you
That we will not fall
For we are united, and
To a man...We will all..

Stand tall...tall as the towers
Stand proud...proud of our land
Stand firm...and be determined
To stand...stand tall

Dieter's Lament
Oh flesh, why hast thou done me thus?
When over you, I made such fuss.
Paid you homage, loved you so
Enjoyed you everywhere I'd go

I cherished every taste of you
And with your help, I quickly grew
Our partnership, a great success
Until your flesh became my flesh

I grew in stature..stomache fell
And found I wasn't walking well
Cholesterol became sky high
Heart pounded 'til I thought I'd die

You'll star, no longer, in my life
You have caused me naught but strife
My new commitment will be great
I'll put ME first, and I'll lose weight

No more will I be slave to you
I'll do what I know I must do
Make you my slave, so that you're giving
Not a slow death, but a joyful living.

Faeries here, and faeries there                            A faerie's made of wondrous things
Faeries hiding everywhere                                 Of magic dust and butterfly wings
How I wish that I could see                               Of laughter, and of ladybugs
The faerie who is here with me.                         Of candy kisses and Grandma hugs.

Faeries dance in faerie rings                               Faeries giggle when faeries sneeze
In waterfalls, a faerie sings                                 And you can hear it on the breeze
Faeries sleep in Christmas trees                          Faeries flutter, and faeries flit
And hum along with honey bees.                        They hardly ever have time to sit.

A faerie's smile is bright as sunshine                    Faeries have a sense of humor
Her laughter is like tinkling rain                           They like to try a trick or two
So if you think you see, or hear her                     Like when your getting dressed for school
Stop, and listen, and look again.                          They'll hide one of your socks from you

My faerie splashes in my bath                            If bad dreams bother me at night
She helps clear danger from my path                  My faerie makes them all take flight
Reminds me to be safe on stairs                         She tucks me in, so very tight
And listens when I say my prayers.                     And keeps me safe 'til mornings light.

My faerie helps me take the care
To wash my face, and comb my hair
To eat the food that's good for me
And wear a smile, for all to see.
